I remember losing my dog that I had for over 13 years. I had to put him down. I buried him and planted a cherry tree. Even though I lost him about 15 years ago, I still remember him, he was such a big part of my life. I dont know if the circumstances of your loss was similar but this is what the vet sent me after he was put down. It was a card with a dog looking out into the distance and this poem....<br /> If it should be....<br /> If it should be that I grow frail and weak,<br /> and pain should keep me from my sleep,<br /> then you must do what must be done,<br /> for we know this last battle can't be won.</p> <p>You will be sad, I understand,<br /> but don't let grief then stay your hand,<br /> for this day, more than the rest,<br /> your love and friendship must stand the test.</p> <p>We've had so many happy years,<br /> what is to come can hold no fears.<br /> Would you want me to suffer? She buried both her beloved cats ( and 7 goldfish ) by a huge maple tree in their yard. The cats LOVED that tree and my mom ( who is disabled ) wanted them buried where she could "see" them and talk to them. Since she has alot of trouble walking, the tree was the perfect place because she can see it out the bathroom window as well as from her bedroom ( both from the bed and from her chair near a window. ) Thank you soooo much for sharing this.
