I don’t have the right boots - I agree a narrow pointed toe is good but I only have one pair like this and they aren’t quite right for my options.</p> <p>I agree Carla - I don’t think I will add boots especially for this style of pants. My western boot collection in particular has been great with these styles.</p> <p>- sneakers, mostly ones with thicker or platform sole, as they provide some presence and balance with the volume of the pants. </p> <p>That’s pretty much it for me. By the time it’s warm enough for sandals it will probably be too warm for most of these pants, but I think some of my sandals look good with the lighter weight wide-legs too. I don't really own any heels over 2 inches and those are block heels or wedges anyway.&nbsp;</p> <p>Like others, I play with the colours and proportions of what is on top. Today was really cold here and I had to walk a lot. Also like Angie, I don't have any heels over 1.25" and the majority of my shoes are completely flat with a thin sole. I have a couple pairs of pants whose inseam really only works with my thicker-soled shoes, or the hems will drag, but everything else is either the "new full length" or slightly cropped and work with thinner outsoles as well. </p> <p>The other big consideration is how much of an ankle gap I want. I don't really wear low-tops and cropped inseams until it warms up, so buying a pair of high-shaft chelsea boots this fall really opened up a lot of cold-weather pants options that I didn't reach for before. Also, to a lesser extent, I think about how what I'm wearing on top works with the bottom -- mostly a matter of proportion, but also colour/pattern. I tend to prefer a chunkier shoe with oversized/bulky toppers for the visual balance, and with lighter/more tailored toppers I'm more likely to reach for a more streamlined shoe. For winter wear, I wore a bit of a chunkier Chelsea boot but I also wore my more streamline Clark’s ankle boots too, they seemed to look okay to my eye. Back in the fall I would tend to wear them with simple loafers, ballet flats, Sketcher Mary Janes and my Ecco 7s. My feet have to be comfortable first and foremost.
