I cannot help you with your tomatoes but I am eating green the last weeks. Ok. Beside all the meat from the bbq, something I don't do normally. Favorite now is green gazpacho. Ottolenghi adapted.

GF - your feast sounds wonderful! My family LOVES lamb. and we have lamb a couple of tImes a month. The best is salt marsh fed lamb from Quebec. I will special order it from the butcher for DH's birthday and at Christmas. The couscous dish with apricot and pistachio sounds like dessert!

I did some serious cooking on Sunday for a mini celebration but forgot to take photos of the finished product! This is what happens when you simultaneously try to roll dough, placate a crying baby, and arrange furniture.

Anyway, the main event of the meal was boneless roasted leg of lamb. I made a dry rub of shallots, garlic, anchovies, rosemary, and lemon zest, and cooked it low-and-slow before blasting it at the end. (I have a ‘before’ pic, but the vegetarian in me finds it unappetizing.) It’s the first time I’ve cooked meat-on-the-bone, as well as the first time I’ve cooked for a large-to-me crowd (25).

Accompanying the lamb was a pearl couscous dish, with diced apricots and pistachios, seasoned with fennel, ras al-hanout, cumin and coriander; and malawah (a flaky Yemeni flat bread), with nigella seed.

Ah good old chip and dale. We have a battle of the wits and lose every time.
We put our green grape or small tomatoes on a newspaper lined cardboard flat ( canned goods flat from grocery store) and cover it with more newspapers on an unused counter - the dark environment lets the tomatoes ripen. For bigger tomatoes we individually wrap in newspaper and put single file in brown paper bags to ripen.
With end of season green ones we make a salsa verde ( green tomato peppers onions garlic ( yeah I know- the Italian part of us can’t help it.)
Better luck next year to both of us

Fried green tomatoes on toast used to be a “ fancy” breakfast at the cottage when I was a kid . A bit of mayo , salt & pepper , whole grain bread .....yum. Oh the days when we could eat copious amounts of anything ....

I picked the large green tomatoes off my plants before they froze last year and made fried green tomatoes. They were sliced into large slices, battered, and fried. We ate them as a side (probably not the healthiest side dish ever ). Your's look too small for that. Hopefully someone has a good idea.

Those chipmunks can wreak havoc. Last year they ate every one of my gooseberries and then started on the cherry tomatoes. Like you I picked them all and ripened in my very dark dining room. This year I didn’t even try. I don’t have a recipe but have heard they are delish pickled.

So....I lost the battle with the chipmunks. They discovered the potted tomatoe plants on my deck and have been making a mess. I cut the plants down and now have some slowly ripening tomatoes (see pic) and am thinking of trying my hand at making fried green tomatoes. Anyone out there with experience and a good recipe? Would they be considered a veggie side, a snack, or an apperatif?

This is an open post for foodies, so feel free to post your pics and recipes.
