Runcarla that is a delicious looking meal and as I'm not a big sauce person, it looks like something I would love. Did it take you a long time to get such professional looking loaves? Do you come from a family of bread bakers?

Gradfashionista, is the baklava sugar free because you just didn't add sugar? Did you use a sugar substitute? Do you mean no white sugar but there is honey?

Whiskey honey cake? Sounds amazing!

Runcarla - If you make that recipe, it goes fast so make sure you everything prepped and out before you start.

OH yum. I always enjoy seeing everyone's photos. It all looks delicious! My daughter may end up being the baker in the family. She recently bought a giant BHG baking book, and she's been flipping through it often. She made some dinner rolls last weekend, and they turned out great!

I need to get out and pick the last of my tomatoes. We've had lots of them on the counter the last several weeks, so we've been eating them with just about every meal.

Thanks for the link, Sara L. I'm printing that recipe!

JAilenne aren't tomatoes from the garden the best? I love how garden grown tomatoes are so much heartier than grocery store version. Yes the flowers are from my garden. The orchids have gone into dormancy, and I wanted something for my 'beauty corner' so picked what I could from the garden. A couple of frosty nights has limited what's available. The Rose is throwing off a lot of scent, so had to be added. The cone flower is a lone raggedy left over. After I picked it, I thought there might be more as I toured the garden, but no...

You have quite an extensive repertoire of cooking skills, GF. The cod dish looks yummy. Vichyssoise is my favourite soup, ever! The sesame loaf is a work of art.

I don't usually take food pictures but I actually did last night. I made a one pot pasta and shrimp recipe: https://www.epicurious.com/rec.....ith-shrimp

I made some changes based on what I had on hand. I used peas, carrots and green beans and no broccoli. I used tomatoes from my garden, not cherry tomatoes. I also added some basil and didn't put the parmesan cheese in because my oldest son is allergic to dairy. I put the parmesan on the table to be mixed in when served (I have both regular parmesan and a soy version so he's not left out). It was really tasty and all my kids loved it. The only complaint was that there wasn't enough shrimp.

Carla, your bread looks sooo delicious. Are those flowers from your garden? The coneflower is very interesting looking.

Gradfashionista, your baking looks delicious, too. Wow. Very impressive. My mother used to make baklava. Mmmm..

We had a cold snap a few weeks ago and we picked all of the remaining tomatoes. We've since eaten most of these. The peppers are New Mexico Big Jims. They are slightly warmer than Anaheims.

Maybe the recent topic on bread baking has got you trying your hand at crafting a loaf? I bake bread at least once a month. I have a very simple recipe for a white bread, that I will sometimes make using wholewheat flour, or throw in some wheat bran. It makes a nice raisin bread, and I have also made it with a chocolate swirl a la pain au chocolate.

#1 yeast, sugar, warm water, and 2 cups of flour - let rise 1-2 hours
#2 Then 6 cups of cold water alternated with flour, mixed until stiff, then dumped onto the counter and kneaded for 20 minutes.
#3 Set to rise.
#4 my timing was off, and dinner interrupted the process. I let it rise further while I ate. It overflowed the bowl!
#5 more kneading and shaping for buns and loaves
#6 the finished product! I rub butter over the tops while it is hot for a soft crust.

#7 lamb for dinner, with corn on the cob, honey glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes. Everything was local - within 20 km of where we live. Even the honey (though the bees may go further afield.)

#8 an informal autumn bouquet

Please post your food pics - what you've cooked, or someone else's cooking that you have enjoyed.
