None taken! I included it for comedic value. That batch were far from the worst. The last batch partially melted through the wire rack and made a horrible gloop on the saucepan bottom!

Thanks, anne! It sounds like you had a good result even if not exactly what you were going for!

Emily, I was trying to make thishttps://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/masterchef/recipes/chocolate-and-peanut-butter?_from=searchresult
I didn't have any whisky though, nor the equipment to make the mousse, and the substitute recipe I used was too heavy. Peanut butter icecream was a total winner though!

Good try with the GF steamed buns, anne. I think that's a concept that would be hard to achieve, gluten free. I'm surprising myself, recently, by really craving dim sum (that's a weird thing for me) but I didn't get to eat everything that I really wanted to eat during a recent dinner and I keep wanting those other items! Grrr....

What was the Masterchef meal?

Picture one is a failed attempt to make steamed pork buns, which were one of my favourite at dim sum, in a gluten free form
Picture two is teff gingerbread, another GF recipe, made because I found a heavily discounted packet of teff.
Picture three was made with my new spiralizer
Picture four was a partial attempt to recreate a winning recipe from the current season of masterchef australia..

Here's my dinner from Canada Day -- I had my big meal at noon because I had to work that night.

A friend on Facebook suggested we think of red and white foods. I remembered I had a lobster tail in the freezer, so I made a lobster roll (on a hamburger instead of the traditional hot dog bun, and DH pointed out it wasn't white). Served with radishes and a red (purple) and white cabbage slaw.

The strawberry shortcake had to wait till the next day, and I have no pic.

Runcarla--I am so glad you put up this post as I have something to contribute! Pic#1 is a skillet caramel apple pie that I decided to make after I found a single piecrust languishing in the freezer (I make four crusts at a time as it uses up the ingredients in an even way). And Pic#2 is a cold, gazpacho-y soup called California Sunshine Soup--I just love it. It signals the return of summer because I start making it as soon as the weather warms up.

Better late than never!

Sorry to be remiss about opening a bimonthly food thread. Between weekend race events and checking in on my Mom, food preps has been in the hands of the men in my family. This means a lot of bar-b-que and salads in the summer time. I do wish I had a pic of the beautiful peach, mango, avocado salad DS#2 made a week ago. It was as pretty to look at, as it was delicious to eat!

Below are before and after pics of a new potatoe recipe that is getting raves from the men-folk. Instead of garlic and rosemary, this recipe calls for cumin, paprika, salt (1 tsp each) and pepper (a few grinds) mixed with 1/4 olive oil. Cut suds 'steak cut' style and toss in the oil mixture till coated. Bake 45 min in a 400deg oven.

So what have you been whipping up in the kitchen?

Please post pics, and recipes if applicable.
