Here’s my last of the holiday meals. Meaning the last bits of all the leftovers. Chucked in corn, mixed veggies, baked beans, green beans, tomato slices, cut up pork chop. Added water, bouillon cube, salt, chili lime seasoning, onion flakes, and milk and cheddar cheese when it was hot. Called it Chuck It In Cheddar Chowder. It was great! Oh, one small bowl still leftover for lunch tomorrow.

I'm afraid my big plan to get my son to start enjoying food with some kind of coating or sauce failed. I got him a little fondue pot, filled his stocking with chocolate, and had crackers and a platter of chopped fruit waiting. No dice. We've tried two times so far.

Big ole meaty ham bone, you say? Split pea soup!!! I say. I love it, especially when it's chilly outside.

I made savory crepes for the New Year's Eve dinner. My kid loves his crepes with cream cheese and honey, so we have them often for breakfast. This was the first time I tried my hand at savory crepes. It was just the two of us (plus kiddo, who had his crepes with cream cheese as usual), but I wanted to make something special. They were mushroom and spinach crepes with bechamel sauce and very yummy. But it was very time consuming since I only have one pan good enough for making crepes. I do like savory crepes a lot though, so I may try it again some other time.

I made these cookies last night. They’re cocoa and mint. I made them for a memorial service, but have a few left over for us. My husband doesn’t like them. He doesn’t like chocolate. It’s like living with an alien. I think they’re good - intesense dark flavor.

It all looks delicious Carla. I made a carrot cake for Christmas Day. Mr SF turned 70 in November and carrot cake is his favourite dessert. I have never ever made a cake in my life. It turned out very well. Excellent actually. We ate half on Christmas Day and the other half at my sister's a few days later.

Black eyed peas made with a ham bone. Rice added to each serving bowl before the soup is added to prevent the rice from absorbing all the broth. Second ham bone in the freezer waiting to be used for hearty split pea soup later this month.

I know pic #1 looks like some alien blob, but I was just so delighted with the look and feel of the dough when I was working it. The bread (pic #2) turned out perfect, and the one pan of buns was consumed - but for one lone fellow.

We are not much for NYE partying, but DO celebrate the 1st. DH makes his famous fluffy scrambled eggs, and we crack open a small bottle of bubbly for Mimosas! pic #3.

More tradition. A leg of lamb for Jan. 1 dinner! (Pic #4 + #5).

So what did you consume over the holidays? Try anything new in 2018? Trying anything new in 2019? Post your pics and recipes.

Ps: Does anyone have any ideas what I should do with a meaty 'ole ham bone I have in my freezer?
