Yep. That was the bakery parking lot like at 2 in the morning.

Puffy saga continues. Went to two Nordies. Will make new thread.

This is quite the saga that I am following with baited breath. Did she go? Did she not? Just order the puffer coat in a couple sizes already and take a nice walk with the pup. That sounds much more relaxing to me. :)

SF downtown is pretty picked over. I was actually considering going to Walnut Creek or Stanford this weekend - there's a non-NAS jacket that caught my eye. Valley Fair would be best but I don't want to drive all the way there.

I'm surprised Palo Alto is so dog friendly. I lived down there for ages, my cousins are there...to be honest, I see it as an uptight town. Lol. But, I'm from the East Bay. The whole world is uptight in comparison. Haha!

Lilypup is a shopper. She's very good. She also has a stroller. I worry more about people stepping on her than her doing anything unseemly.

My brother lives close by. A few years ago we were visiting with our Jack Russell. My brother insisted we take the dog there. I couldn't believe it. Here, dogs are banned from most stores except hardware stores and nurseries. Anyway, we were welcomed into every store except the restaurants and other food related places. Several of the stores had bowls of water and treats available.

ETA: Now that I have two terrierists, I wouldn't dream of taking them. But you have a good dog, don't you?

I'm still hemming and hawing. Going by the web, Walnut Creek seems to have improved their designer offerings, not that this has anything to do with the sale. I have to checkout Stoneridge and see what's available. I might get crazy and go to two - one on Monday and another on Thursday.

I've heard Stanford is pup friendly. But is it really?

"Free shipping both ways." When that's the case, it's hard to argue against online shopping since it gives you the ability to try things on combined with your own existing wardrobe.

Of course, with online, you don't get to experience The Event, and you don't have the advantage of immediately rejecting something for the way it feels. And you don't get the opinions of a helpful sale associate. But you also don't face traffic or sore feet or crowds.

I haven't been to Valley Fair yet even though it's only half an hour from me on the weekends. I live 5 minutes away from the Stanford store and have just been ordering online, returning there. They are very low on small sizes, FYI. I can't comment on VF vs. SF downtown.

Stanford Shopping Center is walkable from the Palo Alto Caltrain. The route is kinda weird though (small stretch of no sidewalk on Alma St plus a pedestrian-and-bike-only crosswalk). But If you're ever in the Stanford area, give me a holler! I'm also 5 minutes from the Caltrain station, so I'm happy to give you a ride. Or grab a meal in downtown PA.

Ack, tho! It's Garlic Festival already? I was thinking I'd go during the week, wherever I went, because weekend crowds in store add a whole other dimension of horror.

Traffic on weekdays is horrendous lately. This weekend is the Garlic Festival--I'm not sure how far north the traffic backs up. Then there is the beach traffic and the Antiques Fair at Moss Landing, but that shouldn't affect the VF area too much. We try to stay home or local on summer weekends.

Last week I went to Stanford and VF. I had already made an online order. I wanted to check out a few items in person. I'm not too happy with the Stanford store right now. They seem to have a lot more of the higher priced items, but that may mean that it is more spread out. I found nothing there.

A few days later I went to VF--try to get there late morning so I can leave earlier in the afternoon on commuter days. This store seemed to have a lot more of the sales stuff. I did find most of the items I had wanted to check out and I bought a Paige sweater that wasn't on my list. I came home and ordered more stuff online.

You'd have to take a bus for the last lap to VF. No trains go near-by. Or Stanford either. And it's been close to 100° the last few days and the air is smokey from the Monterey fire.

If you do come to San Jose, let me know. I could pick you up at the train station and take you to VF and then give you a ride back to the train. I'm thinking Cal Train. The Light Rail goes to Campbell. Geez, what a mess.
Don't want to discourage you, but if you want to do VF, maybe I can make it easier.

Getting to Valley Fair via public transit sounds awful. Can you drive there?

Whoo hoo!!

The closest one to me is now 2.5 hours away and ..well..I have never been there. So I get it.

But this trip is sounding fun.

San Jose. Make a day of it.

Snag a spot at Din Tai Fung, if you're lucky! (So much hype. I heard it's not as good as LA, but it will be fun to try. We finally have a reservation for end of August.)

Then cruise through Santana Row on your way out and experience a little bit of high summer.

Happy hunting!
