Yep, the mom on the go and casual capsules on the blog are great places to start. I wear casual 90% of the time, and a lot of my wardrobe is Old Navy/Gap/Target stuff. It's reasonably priced, decent quality most of the time, and I'm not afraid to actually wear it in real life situations where spills and stains and such happen lol. You could make a few hundred dollars stretch a good way at these price points and have stuff that fits you for that season or year. Good luck!

Angie has several mom on the go (MOTG) formulas that are great I'd start with those and adapt to your liking. Good luck!

Thank you the starting tips. I'm a RN so work outfits are scrubs. My goal is to be in mostly casual, cute clothes for running around the rest of the time with my 3 kids and family. Getting out of sweats, & knit pants. I've always admired Moms who still looked pulled together. I like my hourglass shape, and am ready for people to see my hard work. I'm knew to fashion, but loving it so unfortunately I don't know styles well.

I lost about the same amount last year, and it's been really interesting to adjust wardrobe wise, because my shape and proportions changed too. I started by identifying what my most worn categories of items were - I dress smart casual most of the time since I work at home and don't have to dress up. So for me having a few pairs of jeans that fit at all times was key - I thrifted some and got others at Old Navy and Target to fill in the gaps as I was moving through sizes. Since tops can range through more poundage I kept wearing what I could, wore a lot of knits which are more forgiving.

So I would make a list of what your biggest wardrobe holes are, and purchase some items in those categories that fit now. Then see how many outfits you really need, and start to rebuild your wardrobe based on your priorities and your budget.

The fluid fit trend is great but if you have reached such a major accomplishment, losing 30 lbs, I have to imagine you may be hankering for clothes that show off your body? Also more structured/fitted pieces do have a way of making you mindful to KEEP the weight off. And yeah it also takes a long long time for the brain to catch up to the body, and realize whoa... I don't need to hide away in baggy clothes...

When I lost weight (this was 20 years ago) I kept wearing baggy clothes (sized down but still baggy, ya know?), until one day a very kind and wonderful friend grabbed the back of my baggy pants (which would be totally ON TREND right now!) and said... "we need to take you shopping... "

So yes do the trends but you might also want to add to your list a few select items with structure, more fitted, to celebrate your hard-won work:

- perfect jeans -- NOT relaxed, not BF's
- a fitted structured blazer that goes with everything.
- BELTS!

Just my two cents!

Welcome and congratulations! I also came to YLF after losing just over 30 lbs.

I think the fluid fit trend is your friend right now. Knits are also forgiving of size changes, and jersey.

Big question, Alee! I think the current trend for looser fits should allow you a bit of wiggle room, whether you loose a little more weight or gain muscle tone.
What sort of style do you aspire to? What sort of occasions are you dressing for? Do you have some current favourite ensembles in your closet?

Otherwise, have you checked out the guidelines for hourglass from 2010?
http://youlookfab.com/2010/05/.....type-2010/

and Angie's post about starting a style renewal:
http://youlookfab.com/2012/01/.....e-renewal/ ?

Congratulations on your accomplishment! My recommendation would be to figure out how many you need (Mo's by the numbers posts are great for this) and choose nice but not over the top expensive designer items. One thing to decide is whether you want to emphasize you waist or not, or something but not all the time. Sal at the AlreadyPretty blog does a lot on how to define your waist if this is a figure flattery goal for you. Angie is putting out her new body shape guidelines too and they are super helpful and in-depth so that will be an excellent source.

I've lost a little over 30 lbs in the last 9 months. I hope to loose a little more, but if not it's fine. Either way I am still toning and changing sizes. I'm at the point I have to get a few new things, but until I know my weight is stable I want to get things that will look good regardless. What do you all suggest for an hourglass.
