I'm no help, but I did want to chime in that I bought several of the cooler weather versions of the chemise and robe sets from TJ Maxx/Marshall's, and they are about all I ever wear now. They are comfortable, wash up well, are skimpy enough to sleep in or look sexy, but the robe is modest enough to have coffee in in the morning. They just work for me, and there's nowhere else you can find a chemise AND robe for $20. Impulse buy or not, I think it was a good buy.

LOL! Confession is good for the soul.

#1. Close out sale at our downtown department store. Brought DS # 2 and kitted the poor lad out in new shorts and a couple of tops. THEN, went to the mall and 2 more shirts, 2 pair flip flops and a pair of shoes later (for DS, of course), we were done. Doesn't count, right?

(He looked so cute in his new duds today!)

#2. Near sartorial relapse today. It started out cool and rainy, and I caught myself reaching for my yoga pants and roomy T with gear topper. Even had it laid out on the bed, ready to go....then thought the better of it. Just as comfortable in more grocery store appropriate long shorts and Mariner T with colour co-ordinated mini cross body bag!

Tip toeing back from the edge...

Mo if it doesn't break your budget and your loungewear really is getting worn down, it may be worth keeping since you spend a lot of time in that capsule. No reason to have ratty loungewear just because

Mo, maybe you could keep it for a couple of weeks but not wear it. Put it out of sight. If you forget about it, you'll know you can return it because you really didn't need it. I find that sometimes if I hold on to something long enough that the "novelty" wears off, or the emotional need that led me to shop in the first place is gone, I can better assess whether I need the thing.

Of course, if you think you might really completely forget about it, you might want to write a note on the calendar beforehand reminding yourself to return it before the return window expires.

My confession: I didn't read the no shopping post because that's not where I am right now and I knew I wouldn't be joining. So I don't really know the reasons behind the shopping ban. So take that into consideration!

Seems like a good purchase, a great price and a need. If you like it and need it and can afford it, keep it.

Heh, interesting spectrum of responses! I see it like this - it was an impulse buy. I can justify it, sure, but deep down I know that's what it was. Only one on the rack, in my size, decent brand . . . . good old FOMO in action. I'm leaning toward a return. Not because I was 'bad' and need to atone, but because I know I don't need it. Denise, I do have dedicated sleep sets already. My shorts/cami sets are a little worn by now, but perfectly usable. I have 3 matching sets and 2 other sleep shorts I just pair with a random tank or cami. And if I'm being completely honest, I'm not sure a chemise is as flattering for my high shelf hip as shorts and camis, although it does have that glamorously lounging appeal to it
Guess I could unveil it for the BF later and ask what he thinks - hee hee.

EDIT: no sooner did I post this than I grabbed some laundry out of the dryer to find my lounge ombre dress in bad shape. Maybe unwearable. Might have to rethink returning after all . . .

Good for you for getting real sleepwear. I haven't purchased real sleepwear in a long time. I'm on a demoted real clothes kick.

If you feel bad, just remember. Shopping for clothes = supporting the worldwide economy.

Hi Mo,

I am a tell it like it is /non enabling type.
What works for me may not work for you.

If I slip up in a small ($) way and I know that the purchase was intended eventually and is not poisoned by negative feelings ("oh undisciplined me!") and I will enjoy it, this is my strategy:

I try to make small sacrifices in other areas to make up for the purchase. (for example, giving up a lunch out, 2 glasses of wine). There has to be consequences---not torment--but consequences. I understand that this is not a question of affordability (spending money you don't have--but more a personal challenge). I share your bargain hunting and price/value sensibilities. We are a lot alike. :)
I have to stay out of stores to succeed in this June challenge--something I am discovering.
Lastly, I am always impressed with your intellect. You are clearly super smart. Do you shop when you are bored because you need stimulation?

PS:I also think pretty lounge wear makes life nice for BF so you shouldn't be too hard on yourself.
PPS: We're in this together!

ETA: Reread my response. Do I sound like a barrel of fun or what? I would make a great stern headmistress at a boarding school somewhere... Changing my answer. Life is short. Enjoy it!

Oh, I feel your anguish, girlfriend. Confession is good for the soul. At least it was only $20! Since it was on your yearly list, can you just deduct it from that and not spend the money later? Don't beat yourself up over it, just keep moving forward, and return the sleep set if it'll help you move in that direction. I have done this myself many, many times. Staying on track is hard work.

However you want to describe it: I shopped yesterday. After my lap swim I went to the discount store that was half mile away. When you are biking everywhere, proximity matters! Anyway, my wet towel and suit, and water bottle were in my cinch sack on my back as usual, and to say that it made my back sweaty would be a huge understatement. I was looking for rubber flip flops for the pool and possibly a netted cinch sack for airflow. Tired of getting my Birks wet and think it might be eroding the footbed early. No luck on the flip flops, but I found the netted bag. That's gear and I don't consider it a fail on the Just say no June. BUT . . . I also grabbed a sleep chemise and robe set. Yes, it's on my yearly list, and yes it's in the 'other' category but it's not really needed nor planned for at this exact moment. I fondled some other sleep sets last week at TJ Maxx, so I knew I was feeling the pull even then. My sleep shorts sets are good enough to last the season probably, certainly the month of June! lol Debating a return. I dunno. But coming clean in the meanwhile. It's by Tart and was $20. Different pattern, but this set, called 'Lucy' apparently.
