Thanks for posting this follow-up Maya. I like the sound of the inner light foundation - makeup always feels like it slides off my face too. Funnily enough I went and got a haircut today (seperate thread to come) at a salon that uses Aveda-only products. The salon itself smelt delicious and now my hair does. Count me in as a convert!!!!

Maya, I am so glad the Aveda products are working well for you. I also love the lip gloss.
Medusa, if you go to the Aveda home page, at the top is a link to find a location. Click on that & you can choose your country & put your city or zip in & it will tell you the closest Aveda locations.

Vani, that's a tough question to answer. While I generally like the limited color palettes Aveda offers, I do wish the face products came in a greater variety. That said, these blend pretty well into the skin. I could have probably gone with either Honey or Twig. Twig was slightly warmer, which worked better for my tone, but there wasn't a huge difference.

I would go to an Aveda store in person, if you have one. The SAs are pretty helpful and you'll get free tea and a massage!

I just use Cetaphil for a moisturizer. Most people with oily skin don't like it, but it doesn't really bother me. I have tried all kinds of products, and I assure you, my skin is oily regardless of what I put on it...

Does Aveda have stores with people who can help one pick some makeup to try if one is a complete idiot about makeup? ("One" being me, in case isn't wasn't obvious.)

Thanks so much for the reviews Maya. I've been following this thread closely. I have similar concerns (have oily skin, want natural look without heavy makeup that doesn't slip away by the middle of the day etc) I will give the inner light foundation a shot. I love the natural look and coverage I get from the Everyday minerals powder but it has no staying power.

Considering I am a few shades darker than you, do you think their darkest shade will still be a tad light for me? Also, would you mind if I ask what moisturizer you use. I've used Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturzing gel for ages and now I realize it isn't really doing anything for me anymore. Thanks again!

I received my order and am quite pleased!

If anyone else is as timid and overwhelmed by makeup as I am, I cannot recommend Aveda more. I think what I like most about them is that their selection of products is very limited. For true cosmetiphiles, that's probably a bad thing--but for people like me who just need bare bones basics, it is a blessing. I don't have to sort through 100 different types of lipgloss, each with 10 different formulas and 40 different shades. It was very easy to figure out what was best for me. The other thing I like is that their colors (for the most part) tend to be very natural--the kind of colors you would actually see on a person's bare face. Again, for makeup aficionados, this would probably be boring...but I found it much easier to deal with and the results were far better for my needs.

I got the following products:

http://www.aveda.com/product/C.....index.tmpl
http://www.aveda.com/product/C.....index.tmpl
http://www.aveda.com/product/C.....index.tmpl
http://www.aveda.com/product/C.....index.tmpl
http://www.aveda.com/product/C.....index.tmpl

The inner light foundation is featherlight and better for my oily skin than a liquid. Liquids, even tinted moisturizers, had a tendency to slide off my face over the course of the day. By the end I looked like I wasn't wearing anything at all. This stays in place and feels nice and silky. I used to think I wanted a sheer formula, but I think I have concluded that while sheer might be nice for tight pores and dry skin, it isn't so effective for me. It doesn't stay on and barely even shows. I like the fuller coverage as long as it isn't cakey or heavy, and this isn't either one.

I have never bought concealer before because I was always under the impression that it was there to conceal flaws like acne scars or blemishes, which I don't really have an issue with. But I bought some just to even out the darker areas around my eyes, and it really made a difference. I actually looked well rested today, which I most certainly am not.

Blush is a major sore spot for me. I don't have defined cheekbones so I tend to look like a doll with two colored spots on my face when I wear it. Not so anymore. I love the varying colors in each palette. It gives the color dimension, and the rich rosey color is much less obnoxious and clownlike than some of the shocking pinks that some SA's have tried to put me in in the past.

The lip gloss is probably my favorite find. I got the "berry" color which looks nothing like it does online--way more red than pink. It is just what I wanted. I hate gloss because it's sticky and gives too much of a wet look, which I don't like. But I hate lipstick for being drying (every formula I have ever tried has been drying), and the color is too harsh. This is perfect. The color is subtle but definitely visible, and the finish has a nice gentle shimmer.

I got the eyeliner in Wild Indigo and love it, even though I normally go for natural hues. It's much less bright than it appears online. You can't tell right off that it's blue and not black, but it's a little bit softer than black but a bit more fun and funky than brown.

I hope this info helps someone and I really, REALLY hope this is the end of a long journey for me.
