Thanks for the additional feedback - I agree that the extra length on the medium hangs better, making it more like a relaxed tunic than a too-short top. As for the white shirt underneath, that was just playing with proportions - same with layering a cardigan over the top. I think it's the long skirt that makes it look too staid - it might work better with the colourful pants or other 'fun' bottoms.

As for the voting, I guess it was more to see whether people think I should keep or return the tops (ie do they work on me or not at all)?

I know I don't look good in black near my face, but I needed some wardrobe staples & the only other colours they sell this top in are neon yellow & stripes. Pastels wash me out & neons make my tan look sour lol, so I think I'll stick with using a scarf to break up the colour of the tops.

It's good to finally have some light, soft summery tops that are work appropriate but still suit my style!

You ask us to vote Yay or Nay, but to what? Yay/Nay to flattering? Or Yay/Nay to frumpy? And concerning which picture? There are so incredibly many ...

Generally, I think the white top looks great on you, practically no matter how you style it. (I must admit, though, that in my opinion, the long necklace used in some of the pics gets in conflict with the asymmetric lines of the top and should be left out or substituted by a shorter necklace.)

Honestly, I don't think the black top does anything for you. If I were you, I would either keep the white one only or try to get another top in a lighter colour, i.e. peach or mint.

I prefer the medium in both of these tops, mainly because I feel the swingy, carefree feeling is lost with the shorter, smaller size. And I LOVE your combinations. The only outfit I dislike is the black top layered over the long sleeved white top. I think this asymmetric top is a very flattering and versatile look for you!

I really like all of these looks, except #10, in the original post, which strikes me as "governess-y". The white blouse underneath is taking away the playful feel of your top.

What Beth Ann and Firecracker said. I like both tops, like the orange pants (esp. ankle length) and like the darker skirt, though you might want to experiment with length on it a bit (or different footwear). The scarves work beautifully to add a bit of colour and interest.

I agree about keeping some length, so the medium is the way to go.
I like the long necklaces with the top and don't see a problem at all with the necklace overlapping the diagonal seam.
I rather like the volume on volume outfit as well. With the necklace, it looks like a boho outfit.

I think the skirt needs to be shortened to kneecap length and I think it would look better with a more fitted shirt and cardigan.

Your outfits are really fabulous though. Like others, I like the outfit with the orange pants. I also like the scarves.

I think the sandals are cute! And really like the necklace for the 'funky' look. I also think the top with skirts works very well.

As for the size of the tee in black - boy, a hard call! The white is so clearly ace in medium. I was initially leaning toward the small in black, because it shows your shape nicely.... but I'm gonna go with the medium. As I looked at more and more outfits, I felt the additional length worked more often....

Thanks, everyone, for all your thoughtful feedback! I've actually decided to go with the medium black top in the end - I'm not sure if it's very clear in the photos, but the small size actually makes me look a little short waisted.

Firecracker is right about the medium giving me more length, which I prefer. I agree the small fits well on top but, since waist definition is a figure flattering priority of mine, I'm going to style the medium size more like a Tunic than a true 'top'.

Thanks again!

Those tops are absolute workhorses for you. They go with everything--I like all the versions! My preference, with the skirts, is for the mid-length straight one. I think the medium top works nicely--I like the bit of added length it gives you.

I'm on the run this weekend, so I don't have much time to give thoughtful feedback, but I just looked at your earlier post, and then the picks in this one, and I can see you making good discoveries about what works for you in your new location. A couple quick notes:

1. Love the orange pants --- particularly the slimmer ones -- those look terrific on you!

2. Don't shy away from showing your legs! I think it might be worth it to explore where the perfect length is for you. I wonder about just at the kneecap (your black skirt seems a bit longer),and playing with different shoes in the mix, too. I love wearing a tube skirt with a floaty top, particularly since time has "shifting" my load, so to speak, a little more from my hips to my midsection.

I look forward to getting to know you and your style -- and chiming in when I have more time!

@Jenni NZ I appreciate all your comments - don't want to keep you from your day though, lol! I moved to Brazil by myself for half a year in 2013 and then I've been here in Hong Kong since summer 2015 - I went back home to the UK for summer 2016 & then returned to HK last Autumn without a job lined up. Whether this counts as bravery or stupidity really depends on who you ask, haha! Have yet to visit NZ though - should probably take advantage of HK's proximity to different countries by travelling the East whilst I still can!

@Joy thanks for the compliment! It's difficult to find clothing that fits here (I now fit in XL or XXL here, where I was a Small or Medium back home), but at least I can still fit into cute accessories here, lol!

What do you think of the orange pants vs the red-orange slimmer fit ones? Both look OK?

Nothing wrong with your legs. And I find colour easy to do in hot weather, lots of florals and brights. Yes rolling the pants hem looked good. You are brave to move countries. I have done it twice to UK from NZ but first time with husband for one year and second time with him and 3 kids for 6 months. Otherwise just holidays.

I agree that the smaller black top looks good with the pants, but what about with the skirt? I feel like the higher hem gives me a pregnant look when I pair the smaller top with a skirt, lol? I've tried pairing both the small & medium black tops with an undershirt & skirt here, but I'm not sure which looks better - personally I prefer the shirt tucked in, so it doesn't compete with the diagonal hemline of the top, but what do you think? Small or medium? Tucked or untucked?

Final comment: your shoes. I AM a shoe person even if not a scarf person. The funky new shoes will also be excellent with turquoise and dark blue clothing, just look at your side-on shoe shot for all the colours in them!
Rachylou may have a comment but for me I am afraid I still don't like volume over volume, I still far prefer the slim bottoms. Cheers.

Thanks for your feedback! So I guess the big question is should I keep the medium or small versions of the black top? Also, I rolled the hem of my pants & sleeves of the white top in some of the photos - does this look OK? (even with the sandals, where the strap cuts off at just below the ankle, & the cropped length pants - is my leg bisected into too many sections?)

I think I'm generally at a loss because I'm so used to wearing colours, & injecting colour into my look using layers. That may work back home but, out here, I have to find a way to stay true to myself without dying in this humidity! I'm also used to wearing tighter clothing on top (as a pear-shape) - I accidentally took this photo in between trying the tops, & I think it gives a good gauge of what a difference the top would make if it was fitted, lol! But I guess it's not a bad thing to branch out with looser top styles, so long as I keep my bottoms fitted - not sure how used to skirts I can get (not a fan of my legs), but at least they're an option!

Right, now black tops. I am with Joy in thinking smaller sized black top is better, less material better with orange pants and I am sure would be good with either pair of orange pants. I am not a scarf lover, can't comment. I do feel the black cardigan in the shots is too heavy and overwhelming.

The white top looks excellent with the boots as I thought! Proportions are great. I hope with all these choices now you won't regret cutting the tags on the white top. With skirts, I like it with the black pencil skirt and the black maxi. The necklace going over the seam looks fine.

So many questions. Firstly, I like pic 1 in your first lot of photos. The white top looks soooo much better with the slimmer pants, those sandals and the necklace. It doesn't look too big or too much material at all. So yay for that. It also looks great in pic 4 with the knee-length skirt, yay for that too. Will post this part then maybe try again!

Unfortunately I don't have any furniture that sits at eye level, so I have yet to figure out how to take better angled photos without resorting to selfies! So for now, here are some more snaps taken haphazardly in mirrored lifts, haha. I added a non-selfie photo at the end, too - do the proportions still look quite different?

I like everything you have done with styling these tops and like the medium white top but have a slight preference for the small, shorter top in black, especially with the orange pants. For the colorful scarf, I like the first photo best and do not see a problem with the necklace. You have fabulous jewellery and other accessories plus the cutest shoes. Lots of exciting outfits here.

#5: Racheylou mentioned the volume on volume look could work if I had the right 'funky cool' shoes. Was wondering if these navy/teal sandals do the job? I've matched them to the turquoise necklace & earrings (closeups included) & showed them against stone coloured slim pants for comparison. Would the stone pants work better with the nude sandals instead? (No idea why my camera has made my feet look so dark lol)

#5: Red-orange slimmer pants: so I only took photos of these with the white top, but do you think they're necessary to get the 'slim' look, or will the looser orange pants (above) still work?

Also, how cute are these shoes?? I bought them recently but am struggling to decide what to wear them with - the scarf is orange but I feel like the brown% grey tones to it make it the wrong match for such boldly saturated shoes. Thoughts on what else I could pair them with (other than orange and white)?

Wow... you've been busy with photos! Good job!

(The difference I was noticing wasn't in the necklace, but the shift in the angle of the photos. Looking up at the top from underneath, instead of seeing it straight on like last time, makes the outfit proportions difficult to gauge.)

#4: Orange pants! Worn with both the small & medium black tops. Do the cardigan & scarf work here, or create a weird shape? These pants are looser than the next ones (the red-orange slimmer fit one's), but do you think these looser pants still work (in achieving a slim style fit to counteract the volume of the top)?

#3: Full-length skirt time! Although it's still a tube/ slim fit. More closeups of my accessories (& shoes!) included - as well as a seated shot, since I work a desk job (& therefore most people are going to see me sat down during the day).

#2: Still going with the skirt theme but with a longer (more work appropriate) pencil skirt. I've mixed it up with the addition of some accessories - I personally feel the first scarf tying method (looped at the throat) looks too stuffy with the volume of the top, but I'm not sure if the other scarf is any better? Does the long, black, dolman sleeve cardigan also overwhelm the look too much? The long over lean necklace look is nice, but here's a closeup of the issue I was worried about - the necklace layers over the seam of the top (where the asymmetric Ruffle starts). Does that look sloppy or OK?
