This seems much more in keeping with your wardrobe and fits with your movement towards more blue. Plus (for me anyway) finding tops that work with culottes is always a good thing.

Oh also - I think adding 10 pieces a year sounds way more practical. As you go into your summer wardrobe now, adding summer pieces will also be cheaper, right? So I think the budget difference from 5 to 10 will not be that high....but that's just my opinion I find 5 to be too meager a number.

Now this cropped top is definitely Deborah! I love it! It'll be great on the culottes for sure.....and a long grey/black cardigan layered over when you wear pants.

Your black block heel pumps would definitely amp up any 'casual' factor.....though this top is way more stylish than just a navy tee. Lovely! Can't wait to see you wear it.....perhaps for Sunday church? (Ok...now I'm just being pushy!)

Hi Ladies, rather than start another post, I thought I would come back here to let you know that that jacket is is no go for me:) It is quite lovely but has a metalic thread running through it and the tiny ruffle that edges the jacket is just not me. I did however come home with a new top! I think that I will have to review my 5 piece thing and probably expand it to 8 or 10?????

It's a nice casual top, that could actually go to work and I think will be the right balance with my culottes. It will sit nicely under a jacket too. The model is of course taller than me and the top falls longer on me which I prefer (it's called the Woolly Crop Bell Top, but not so cropped on me lol)

Thanks for your thoughts :)

I think the jacket is significantly different from the cardigan my mum gave me and I am not sure that the cardi won't be moved on:(. I'm trying but I don't think it's really going to be a player in my wardrobe:(. There is a distinct possibility this jacket will read as frumpy on me but won't know til I try. I don't always later with multiple length hems so this could work with my slouchy tapered pants and item that I tend to wear to the office. I do however I visage it worn with longer layers, but won't know until I try it on. Hopefully will get a chance to go in store tomorrow xx

I love the color and texture and would be interested in how the proportions work with your outfits. Is it something that will be a short layer over a longer top, and how does it stand up to things in terms of structure, since it's not drapey--that sort of thing. If you are able to try it out, that would be fun to see.

I love texture in my jackets --- particularly when dealing with a more minimalist tonal palette. And certainly a few more classic pieces would play nicely against the modernist items in your closet! I think the question is whether the proportions will work with bottoms in your wardrobe. I can't predict that until you give it a whirl. Let us know how you like it!

Maybe I am seeing what Lisa is seeing? I had a very similar JCrew knit jacket a few years ago. I loved the looks of it (black and white, nice texture, what's not to love) but didn't love the look on me. I think it was best with black jeans but frumpy with a dress.

I do trust that you would be able to style it with more edge.

It's very pretty and I love the flash of white showing under the model's dress.

I don't think the model is doing the jacket any favours here though - my eye is drawn to the less-than-square shoulder line .....which is likely a postural thing....and makes the jacket look a little sad on top of her dress. It needs shoulder pads ? Over layers, I'm not sure, but I do see it worn as Aliona suggested !

Very nice texture, definitely worth a try on. if you got it does that mean you can only buy 3 more clothing items until next winter? If you are in good shape with current-design pants, first layer tops etc. that will work with this length, then it looks like a good prospect to me. I don't see this fitted style layered over longer first-layer tops as much as I see it given edge with black jeans, moto boots and piled-on pearls. so if it's a layered look you're after, I'd gravitate to more cropped and boxy. Bear in mind though that this opinion comes from someone who is a classic dresser with a complete inability to think outside the usual suspect proportions. I bet you'll find a way to make this truly Deborah

I like and always have a bouclé Chanel like blazer. Nowadays I have 2. One is is similar to yours (stretch knit), but more black than white and has a round neck. It is so comfy, and fab to wear over a column of all black, all white, or a white top. The other is a classic wool, but leather pippings in bordeaux and black, but I would like to find one with a V neck for myself, too:-). Love and I say it would be a great piece for your wardrobe, too!

Yes, I like it too. I'm looking forward to hear your report on it. And I agree with Style Fan, it's different enough from #4 that you won't compare the two, even though they're both grey.
