I see you are sorted! Good luck! I would only hesitate to tell the SA that you want an "outdoor" jacket as she may interpret that to mean something heavy. I would say what you said here: you want to wear over a tee for a bit id warmth in the subtropics, and you won't likely do it up often enough to stretch the bust.

Do try the one I linked to - this is the same one Suz, Inge and I have in white. It is a lighter weight jacket and should work well for you.

Definitely. Tell her you are looking for an OUTDOOR jacket and tell her what your climate is. One of the spring jackets might actually be ideal for you. The leather (and lining) is typically lighter than their fall/ winter models. You won't want anything heavy, but you will want to be able to do it up.

Oh thank you so much! yes she kept saying wear it as an indoor jacket but actually I live in the subtropics so for the few weeks its even a bit chilly you do need to have something to wear over a tshirt to keep warm as this will BE the warm jacket... I will try on the model you suggest Sveta... Suz and Shannon, given our climate there are not enough cold days to get that amount of stretching time. PPP I guess.
My black leather blazer can be zipped but is ridiculously tight if I do so - but I'm ok with that since this is strictly an indoor blazer that I have no intention of wearing zipped.

The white one I just bought that is having the sleeves shortened zips up a bit better, but again, is more of a blazer style.

If I were buying one that I planned on wearing as an actual jacket, I would want it to be able to do up.

But as Suz and Sveta mention, shoulder fit is critical - maybe try on a few more styles to be sure?

They do stretch....but truthfully, they will stretch more if you wear them too tight to begin with! The SAs always say this at Danier. And they strongly encourage you to go smaller vs. bigger. But I am not sure they have caught on to a looser tailored fit in that place yet.

My jackets are both a bit snug through the body and feel somewhat tight if I layer with them....but I CAN layer with them and still do them up. It is not the most comfortable for me, but it is possible. This was particularly important for me with the white one, which I will wear more as an outdoor jacket as well as an indoor jacket.

It should definitely fit in the shoulders -- that is for sure your first priority. And then think how you are planning to wear it. Will it be an indoor jacket? LIke a blazer? In that case, maybe not zipping is not a deal breaker. OTOH, if it is an outdoor jacket, you want to be able to zip it up.

They do stretch but I think it depends on how comfortable you feel in it now. I had a couple of jackets when I had to size down but they still zipped on me and I still felt not comfortable enough to go for them.
Definitely don't get a bigger size if it is too big in the shoulders. I suggest trying other models. They not all cut the same, some roomier than others. This one is on the roomier side and comes in red - have you tried it?

They do stretch as far as I have heard. The SA I talked to says they always get returns from people who bought a larger size and it then stretched out. So I would follow their advice.

Hi from Canada! After reading numerous posts about Danier I headed in with leather jacket in my list. She fitted me a lovely red zip up style. She suggests the size that fits my shoulders chest but doesn't (yet) zip up. The size which zips is loose arounds the shoulder area. She tells me the lambskin is designed to stretch. Which size should I get? Do they stretch some? Thanks
