I acheived my goal weight on Thursday but the hard part comes trying to work out how to maintain it. I wanted to loosen up a bit, especially with eating out of the home, but functions on 3 days of the weekend, plus our local Show (read: fair) means I am now up a pound and now have to take it off again!

I am pretty happy on the exercise front. Fitted in a tiny 750m swim while DD had a lesson, did weights, a balance class, and a 80 minute walk with some running pushing DD3 on the stroller. And today ( mon) went to Pump for the first time in a month.

I also visted a physio and got the okay to up my running with some exercies to strengthen my knees

Sona, you are so right about the whole Bollywood image! And my aunts are never very tactful even at the best of times.

Alicat and everyone else, by all means join in any time! I am going to try to post once a week to update, but feel free to post daily if it helps.

A special hug to you, Alicat... I'm so sorry about your mom.

I get a second infusion of intravenous iron tomorrow ( yup part of my not forcing DH/ the babe to take daily pics of me!) has been because I work or sleep as I've been too anemic. Anyway finally (again!!) taking care of myself. I plan to start running again this week hopefully so I'm hoping my next week check in is : I ran ( atleast once in the week to come!)

Una: I didn't quite have the energy to reply to your initial post but your remark on Indian relatives and their 'free speech' when it comes to commenting on one's appearance/weight gain/weight loss had me recollecting many painful moments. Its very interesting that the media craze over bollywood stars being a size 0 has given rise to a whole industry of nutritionists and dieticians ( poorly trained and starvationists more like) and the average Indian male's expectation that his girlfriend/wife also be a size zero. Aaaaaaargh.

(I got OT a little. Sorry !!)

I need to join this! I went to the gym 4 times and worked out hard- weekends are hard to go as family obligations tend to get in the way. I would have gone Friday, but I had to take our dog to the vet- he got a medication and I had to stay with him, in case he got an allergic reaction, though come to think of it, as I also had to give him Benadryl and prednisone as well, that was probably highly unlikely...still, I would have felt terrible if something had happened. I'm going to go to the gym today.
I think I'll also ask my daughter to cull the Halloween candy and toss out the rest!
BJ1111, at least you're eating okra...whenever I look at my diet, I'm good on fruit, but have a hard time with veggies!

exercise going as planned with pilates three times this week and slipped in a few crunches and pelvic lifts during football on non pilates days.

food is very hit or miss. generally try to have a low carb or low glycemic index foods, but was done in this week by ready availability of bite size twix and pizza-palooza yesterday. then we're going to a bbq house this evening so i'm pacing myself. mmm fried okra.

If anyone is interested there is a site called peer trainer where you can form your own group and check in with each other on health goals. I used to do it but haven't for years. I just couldn't get into checking in with strangers. I would be interested in it with people from YLF because I feel like I know you!

I did well. I ran twice and did my nightly ab work on odd days, push ups on even days. Even my stone crab festival didn't totally derail me - just squeaked by with my allotted calories by walking there and back (pic1). Finally, I had more wine free days than not, which is probably my biggest hurdle. Down 1/4 inch and 1 1/4 pounds. :)

For fun, here's a couple screen shots of my Fitbit I use to keep me on track. Been using it for almost 2 years now faithfully. LOVE it.

Errrr, I've been bad about exercise lately. I need to commit to running a race in the spring so I train throughout the winter. Maybe I'll join you for the Rock n Roll half, citygirldc!

Come to think of it, I haven't been doing so well in the eating department either. Not awful, but not great. I'm going to resume tracking my food intake again to keep myself on track throughout the holidays. Now that I'm amassing a new wardrobe in my new smaller size, I'd better stay that size!

CocoLion, I too had a run in with HN Cheerios. My son loves them but they are my downfall.

Other than that, I had a good food week. I lifted weights twice and in between did 30 minutes on the treadmill walking 4 mph at a 2% incline. My legs were too sore from the first weight training session for anything more strenuous.

I am on my way to my goal.

Thanks Alaskagirl for starting the thread.

I try to work out at least 4-6x a week and I've only worked out twice but did ride my bike to work. This week I plan to run, bike, take barre class and sculpting classes. I planning to train for the Rock and Roll half marathon coming up in March but it's so hard lately with the cold weather and lots of comfort food around. My goal is to lose 8 lbs. by New Years and finally get to my goal that I can't seem to reach.

Best if luck to you all.

I have been very good this week. I started eating according to my diet plan on Monday, which means breakfast, fruit, lunch, fruit, 4 o clock sandwitch, nuts/raisins, dinner with pudding and tea and water all day long. And I went to the gym twice. The weekend was a little hard as my DMIL turned 80 on Friday. Fridaynight I skipped desert and ate a small piece of the pancake cake DD6 and I made (so in stead of having a petit four and a piece of sweet birtday cake, I had a belated desert) and Saturday night we went to a restaurant. Otherwise I have not eaten sweets or anything outside my menu, even though DH brougt some lovely boterkoek home, which I love very much. Lucky him can eat all of it!
Even with gaining a little in the weekend because of the birthday in total I lost 1 kg over 7 days.
Next week we have our version of Halloween: Sinte Maarten. Children make their own lampion and sing songs door to door in excange for sweet or mandarins (see pictures, these ar not my children, just googled some pictures). I let DD6 choose some sweets to hand out that I don't like, so I won't be tempted by any leftovers. Normally I would buy the small twix and mars bars.

I only got to the gym twice last week, but that was a bit intentional as I'm still pampering my ankle. This week though will hopefully be a 4 gym day week.
I did notice that my eating this week was starting to fall back to some old ways, and like Marley, I blame Halloween. Allowing myself that one piece of candy turns into a slippery slope quickly. There were also bad chips in the house, which don't help matters. I had more wine than I really should have this weekend as well. Despite it all, my weight is slowly creeping down... I was down a pound yesterday. (I weigh and chart every day, so I have a good handle on what's going on)
The candy is all gone now (my kids ate it, not me) and I'm ready to get myself squared away again. I hope to be down 1-2 pounds by the end of November.

May I join in?

I've been having a tumultuous year and it shows on my belly! I got very skinny early in the year while my mom was in the hospital and hospice, and since her death in April I've been eating my way through my grief. I ate a whole hunk of Manchego cheese yesterday and had way too much wine at night. I am ready to get back on a healthier track!

Would a daily check-in be too much?

I did pretty good with the exercise part - I've found a new swimming partner and she and I are holding each other accountable to show up everyother day. This last week, there were a couple of days where I would have definitely wimped out if I had not committed to my friend that I would go. I can't stand getting wet when I'm cold - and it was dark and windy and sleety - and cold! I am such a baby about it - and I always swear up a storm when I stick my foot into the water to check the temp. It takes all of the resolve that I can muster up to actually dive into the water and swim.

My eating habits were atrocious this week - I blame it on Halloween. I'm still snacking on the left-overs. (I have a major sweet-tooth.) Sometimes the candy fills in as a meal for me. Hmmmmm . . . maybe I should just flush the rest of it down the toilet - but, I CAN"T!

I was very good over the week, writing down all my calorie intake and keeping to my goals. I only worked out twice, riding the exercise bike one day and doing pilates the other. Since getting sick, though, I have no idea how many calories I've eaten in various noodle soups. And tonight we went out to eat Korean BBQ, because that always comforts me... I'm guessing I'm about par for the course. :T

Yesterday: I ate half a box of Honey Nut Cheerios while watching "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" late at night. And I started my day with a large cinnamon roll (no frosting though). I had some peanuts later. Coming to think of it, this was my entire diet for the day. It's amazing I'm as healthy as I am. I ate a little better today, I had a Veggie burger with bacon (with a big slice of tomato) and half a cream puff. Err, that may not be so much better. I think I will have some yogurt later tonight.

I am kind of shocked, writing this down. Do you think I need a food intervention?

I am keeping with my exercise goals however! I am taking the dogs for long walks and we are having a great time together. I am getting lots of great new ideas for miscellaneous areas of my life during the walks.

How's it going, ladies?

I have been reasonably responsible with eating, except for a little binge last night when I stayed up late re-reading "The Debt To Pleasure" and eating a bag of chips while drinking wine. Oops. One of my goals is to avoid sugar and sweets, and I've been successful there.
