Elly, I love mine because not only can I check my HR anytime I tap the screen, but I can also go online to the dashboard and see what my heartrate was each minute of the day. I can go back to when I first started to use my FitBit back in February and see what my HR was then. So $120 is somewhat pricey, but I had a bunch of Best But gift cards that I used to bring the price down. I need to monitor my HR because of arrhythmia and it has been a blessing.

I really appreciate it. The cardiology NP suggested it not so much for medical necessity, but because my pulse varies so widely day to day and throughout the day that she thought it could be useful to my hour-by-hour management of things like salt and hydration levels and my PRN medications if I could visually see what my HR was doing in response to everything at any one moment in time. Still-- $120 is a chunk of change to spend on something if it won't work accurately enough on me.

My parents both got Charge HRs in April. They seem accurate enough (but yeah, wrist-level accuracy, which isn't the most accurate); whenever my mom (an RN) checks manually, it's never disagreed.

I have a chest strap HR monitor, and I haven't worn it in years; it's just so darn inconvenient! So I've actually been wishing I'd sprung for the Charge HR instead of being cheap and getting a One.

Ok just kidding, hubby has the same one you showed. Still the same thought though: accurate enough for an "over the course of a day" thing, but not a quick enough response for say tracking workouts or really quick changes.

I have the Fitbit Charge HR and have compared my HR with both an oximeter and automatic blood pressure device and the HR is spot on. I got mine in February and have worn mine everyday all day and night.

My husband uses the Fitbit Surge HR and likes it well enough. He mostly has it for sleep monitoring, and to get a general idea of his activity level throughout the day. The sampling is something like an average taken over a 5 minute period with interval samples, so it's not going to pick up very quick changes (it takes about a minute); as a result, if you want it for workout tracking it's not going to be accurate enough. But for general wellness it's pretty good. So I agree with Laura, if you need something with more medical accuracy you probably need something different.

I believe the Charge HR just recently came out, so there may not be anyone with that much experience with it yet. I've had the regular Charge since Christmas, and had no problems with it. It's handy since it's a watch too and you don't have to think about it much, but it's not the most accurate thing ever - I've worn it and my old pedometer at the same time to compare, and gotten different numbers. So I'd say it shows general data and trends but you can't count on the numbers being super accurate, like a blood pressure monitor or one of those fingertip pulse oximeters presumably are.

Is there a different version of a chest strap monitor that would be easier to wear all the time? Honestly, if you need medical-quality data, I wouldn't think that a Fitbit would be accurate enough, just based on what I've heard about the inaccuracies of reading HR from the wrist only on devices like the apple watch.

One of the docs in my cardiologists office recently suggested that I purchase a Fitbit for continuous HR monitoring throughout the day. As far as I can tell, she must mean the Fitbit Charge HR, because I couldn't find any other models that do HR monitoring (except the more expensive style).

I don't really have a desire to use any of the other aspects of the fitbit like the pedometer, etc. I already have a really good chest strap HR monitor that I wear while exercising (although it can be a bit of a pain, esp. for hiking trips). I purchased it back before there were any accurate wrist monitors, and wore it for almost a year under my regular bra when I was first diagnosed, which isn't an experience I'm gunning to repeat.

So, I was hoping someone is a user of one of the fitbits with the continuous HR monitoring function might chime in and let me know how well they work. I'm considered a watch that uses a fingertip to check pulse, but those don't work on me frequently because of vasoconstriction in my fingers.
