I just got the Alta and I do like it. I prefer the thinner band and you can switch it for other bands, including metal. The thinner band means it doesn't track HR, though. That needs a bulkier unit. I had a clip on Fitbit before but it died rather quickly. Hopefully this one will last.

I had a Fitbit and I lost it after about one year. And then I got an Apple Watch. I prefer the Apple Watch.

I use the Fitbit ONE.

I like it because it clips to my bra, i.e. I don't have to display it. I don't always want to wear a sports type bracelet. I know they have some better looking ones now, but I still don't like them all that much.

I like it because it does the stairs as well as sleep/ steps. It's pretty good overall. Relatively motivating.

We did have a recent thread about fitbits, I'll see if I can find it.

I used a regular pedometer for years that I clipped to my waistband or pocket. It's a nice option if you want to go low effort and just track your steps, and you don't want to wear something on your wrist. (They're also more accurate than wrist based trackers, if that matters to you.) And they're pretty inexpensive now; you should be able to get a nice digital Omron for less than fifty bucks.

With the Fitbit brand specifically, they have a few models out now. I've had the Charge for a year and a half now. I basically wear it as a watch. It tracks workouts, steps, sleep, and stairs climbed. The Charge HR is the same size but also has a HR tracking ability.

My Charge is starting to peel off the plastic housing in one area, so I literally just bought a Fitbit Alta, their new wrist model, the other day but haven't really worn it yet. It's narrower, and has the ability to display texts as well as notify you when your phone rings if you have a compatible smartphone. It also has the ability to change the wristband, unlike the Charge, and they sell different colors and styles.

There's also the Fitbit Flex, which doesn't have a numerical display, just some kind of dots to show how much you've walked. And they have some smaller clip style trackers that can be clipped onto a waistband or worn in a pocket. I think Janet said she has one of those, the Fitbit One.

I looked for the other thread but couldn't find it. Is it the "Who's Good With Fitness" thread or a different one? I should go back and take a second look, I thought that one was about fitness programs and not fitness trackers.

I used the waist-clipon FitBit for 2 years and loved it- great for tracking steps/miles, flights of stairs, and even functioned as a "watch" (time keeping device). I liked the waist one because I thought the wrist ones were not that stylish at the time (though I loved the Tory Burch cases that came out about a year ago!)

I got an Apple watch in December and have switched to that: has a lot of useful Apps (timer, Apple Pay, texting, phone calls etc)- the fitness App is easy to use so I can easily track my Elliptical workouts. (I gave my FitBit to my daughter.)

I was thinking about purchasing a Fitbit, and when I looked into it I found there are several different models so I thought I'd turn to my YLF friends for a bit of guidance. Here are my questions:

If you use a Fitbit, which model do you prefer and why?
If you don't use a Fitbit, do you use a different fitness tracker, and which one? Why did you choose that one?
Where did you purchase your fitness tracker?

Thanks everyone!
