How frustrating...

Does it come in petite? Or try another of the size you bought to see if buckles as well.

Good luck!

Just another thought. If the zipper is not inserted correctly in a very stretchy fabric, the back ends up with a roll near the end of the zipper. Is that were the extra fabric is sitting? If so, you might want to take the dress to a tailor and see if it is possible to remove the zipper and just stitch up the back seam if you don't need a zipper to get in and out of the dress. That wouldn't be a very expensive alteration.

CJH, thanks! It's nice to hear from people who actually know how to sew. This sounds like major alterations - probably best to return and find another dress.

This would really bug me,so unless you are going to wear the dress only under a jacket or sweater, I'd suggest returning it.

It's probably because of one of two reasons: the cut of the pattern back (at least) is too long waisted for your shape. If the curve of the hips on the dress started curving out closer to the top, not needing to be anywider at all because I think that the hips fit well, it wouldn't push the wrinkle into the top portion of the dress.

OR the back pieces are too long at the center back seam.

Neither of these is truly fixable by alterations except you might be able to take a dart shaped back waist seam (tapering to the side seams), but that will necessitate removing and reinstalling the lower portion of the zipper, or removing the zipper altogether.

So ifyou want to pay for it, you would need to consult a tailor for their opinion and rates.

I think it may be alterable. If it's returnable, you could leave the tags on and bring it to a tailor and see what it would cost than still be able to return it if you don't want to spend that much.

Hmm. I wish I had an answer for you, because I LOVE the dress on you otherwise.IMO it wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker on the item. It may not be as noticeable with movement.

This dress looks like it fits properly from the front. But there's a weird wrinkle across the lower back - it shows up better from the side in the photos. Is this something that alterations can fix? Should I return the dress? Or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

The fabric is a thick rayon/spandex jersey. There's a completely unnecessary back zipper.
