Yes, Gaylene, us small chested gals are better suited to this straight cut blazer!

Unfrumped, the fit is longer and narrower than the schoolboy. I called my store and they had it in stock.

I think the fit looks spot on--and I'm a big stickler for fit when it comes to jackets. One of the things I noticed about the fit of the J Crew Regent is that it's not made for anyone with a full bust. One of my friends who usually fits into a size smaller than me tried on my Regent jacket and found it pulled across the bust when she buttoned it. Seems my small boobs are an advantage when it comes to this jacket.

Oh, glad you got it and now I'm intrigued! This looks longer and narrower than usual JCrew (such as Schoolboy) which do not fit me well--too short. And I get more use out of lighter-weight fabrics. May have to check store or dare I order online?

Retailgirl, J.Crew offers tailoring and at no charge if you use their credit card. I do my own alterations, so I could just do it myself. I will wear them cuffed, but probably not always. Although I do like my sleeves long, I might make these shorter.

I saw that on line and loved it! It does not look snug at all. Can you have a tailor shorten the sleeves, or will you just roll them up? I have a chambray jacket from talbots from a few years ago. I wore it all the time! Dress up, dress down. Versatile.

Thanks everyone for your input! It has a pretty blue lining that will look great with the sleeves rolled up. It came home with me :)

Hmm, it sure doesn't look snug buttoned up , in fact it looks somewhat bulky to my eye. I quite like it unbuttoned, and aside from the sleeve length (I'm the opposite and like them a little shorter) it looks good to me!

Sleeves are long, I like that. Fit when buttoned is slightly snug, but I would never wear it buttoned. They don't have the next size up but I know it would be too big everywhere else. What say you?
