Hi and welcome! I'm a rectangle also. I look for shirts or jackets that create waist definition, slight cinching or darts, curved seams. You can also create a more defined waist with belts over cardigans or shirts.

I'm small chested too so I like to add some volume on top. I'm not a fan of ruffles or frills, so I look for details like soft folds or layers to add some shape. Soft drapey shirts or button down woven shirts seem to look and feel better on me than tight scoopnecks.

Do you wear skinny jeans? I think a pair of very dark skinny or straight jeans is always a good place to start.

I agree, if you can post some pictures you'll get some more specific ideas.

Yes, please post photos! Meanwhile, let me give you an idea of how I dress. I'm also a rectangle, 5'3", 44 y.o. Like you, have narrow calves, strong legs, not much of a waist. However, I do have a largish chest. Anyhow, I posted some examples of clothes that work for me in a response to RoseandJoan's similar query:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....shape-am-i
(The post is 2nd from the end). Hope that will give you some ideas!

ETA: Look into the Magic YLF dress. A lot of us YLFers have it and it looks awesome on everyone. Here's me in it:

Welcome, Lisa! I'm not Angie, but I believe it would help if you could post a picture of yourself. It will be easier to make accurate suggestions that way!

Hi Angie, I'm new to this site and happy to find some place that can give me an idea of how to start dressing/shopping for my body type. I absolutely hate my clothes and have just donated 70% of my wardrobe. I never seem to look put together or stylish. Any adivice you can give to me will be greatly appreciated and passed on to many others. I am 5'4 1/2", 46 years of age, fit and muscular, small chest, rectangular body, not much of a waist, strong legs but narrow calves.
Please give me an idea of types of clothes to shop for that I won't look shapeless or like a man in a dress.....
