Hi and welcome! Great little red shoes. This is a nice outfit. You can do alot with it. There are lots of possibilities here. I'm also a fan of reasonably priced MOTG clothes -- I can't justify pricey clothes for puppy chasing and worm digging.

Hello, congrats on your first WIW post! This is a nice baseline to start from (cute red shoes!), I also tend to prefer fitted tops to highlight my hourglass shape. Jenava had some fab suggestions; adding an interesting topper is a great way to add some extra interest, such as vests, jackets, printed/colorful cardigans, etc. The tunic idea is also great if you want to belt at the waist, as is tucking into skirts and adding a belt there. Interesting accessories (shoes, jewelry, scarves, etc.) are a lower-cost way to take any look up a notch. Looking forward to seeing more :D

(Sorry you missed the Everett meet up, but I'm sure we'll have another soon!)

Hi Shu, You're a beautiful MOTG and I love this "first" WIW and your photos looks great and I especially love the red flats. I fairly new here, too, and you will really appreciate these wise and wonderful women on YLF. I have learned so much in a short time. I'm not a MOTG, but I love the ideas the others have shared here: the skinny jeans, dresses with boots, etc. I especially like the idea of the red jeans, with the striped tee! You would look wonderful in any of these.

Shu, congratulations on your first WIW. You look great but could change it a bit with the addition of a casual scarf. If you don't have one, you might like a striped tee. There are some knit tops out there this fall with a V neck and attached tie that are a change from the usual tee. If you don't like the fussiness of a bow, tie it like a man's tie only lower.

Wow, did I say I like it here? You ladies are fabulous, I'm hooked! Nadya and Ornella, I have to give credit to YLF for the necklace. It would probably be more accurate to say that outfit would be more typical for me without it, but I love the way Angie (I originally considered grey PEARLS!) and other ladies around here accessorize so I gave it a shot. Jenava, thanks so much for all your suggestions, they sound great, and I'd love to try them all! Lynne, I love dresses, and am actually on a mission to wear more dresses and boots this fall/ winter - I'll add pictures as I try them out!

You are a beauty! I think this really suits you. Here are a couple ideas I had for adding on to this basic look:

You could try adding a vest. For winter I've got a fake fur one (mine is too poofy. I need to find a cropped, less furry one) and also a fake shearling one that I like to throw on over this very same type of outfit - long sleeve close-fitting tee or sweater and jeans. Gives it a little fashion-y pizzaz without any effort whatsoever and keeps me warm, too!

You might also play around with different jeans styles and washes. Try some straight-leg lighter washes, for instance. Or dark wash/black skinny jeans or "jeggings" tucked into knee-high flat boots. Or colored jeans with a neutral tee! What about red jeans and a black and white striped tee with black ballet flats?

Also, there are some great comfy lace-up booties around that are perfect for sassifying a jeans and tee look. My favorite right now are the Water Row booties by Indigo by Clarks. They do have a bit of a heel but I walk quite a bit and have bad feet and they don't bother me at all.

I think that's a great first WIW - you look lovely already (and those shoes are pretty), I am sure you will learn lots here. I am gradually moving away from t-shirt type tops (as I seemed to wear them everyday, and I was bored) - there are lots of choices out there!

Hi all,
This is my "typical" MOTG look. Jeans and some sort of tee. My standard attempt/technique for waist definition is to wear a tee that is body conscious/clingy? enough that it shows my waist. I'll add a scarf and blazer when it's chilly. I wanted to post this because it's where I want to build from. I want to start finding tops that are more interesting yet comfortable and practical (and affordable - I'm usually an H&M, Target, Old Navy price-point shopper except for things like investment boots). I'd also like to become more proficient at belting pretty tops to define my waist. These are both not-great quality, so I thought the two of them together might equal one picture ;).
