Oh, and my DH is still making fun of me because of an adventure I had with boots in Europe.

I bought very comfortable, low-heeled boots thinking that would be perfect for rainy days. We had to walk to the train station on stone-lined streets on a very wet day, and suddenly I realized that I could not walk fast because my boots were extremely slippery on the stone surface (it wasn't cobblestone, more like slate or something like that, I am not sure). I don't know whether this will be an issue in Paris at all, but ever since then I am also looking for grippy, non-slippery soles in my "tourist" shoes, and my DH is always asking me whether I remembered to pack "practical shoes".

Comfortable shoes, but not sneakers. Scarves, and lots of them. Trench coat and layers. Not too much color. A memory card with the max GB! You will have the time of your life.

Hi Melinda,
I'm sorry I missed your question on my thread. I'm in Paris right now, and I can tell you that just about anything goes! You see a little bit of everything here, just as you do in any big city.

I'd say that the most important thing is to bring comfortable shoes that you can walk for miles in. If they're half-way fashionable that's a plus, but really, comfort is key. Flat or low-heeled ankle boots should be perfect for November.

A nice pair of dark wash jeans will take you just about anywhere but the nicest restaurant, and mix and match neutral colors are always good.

It's amazing how everybody wears scarves, and I mean all the time! You'll pretty much feel naked if you're not wearing one. Of course that's a great thing to buy here, if you don't already have them.

So, I'd say the most important things are comfortable shoes, scarves, and dressing warmly enough to be able to enjoy walking outdoors.

If you post some pictures of what you'd like to take, you'll get lots of help!

How long will you be gone for? Only Paris? Business involved or will you be out seeing the sights the whole time?

It will be cold, 40F-50F all the time. And rainy.

Well, the Parisian style, as I understand it, is classic essentials dressed up with accessories. Sounds like a perfect formula for travelling.

Other than that, it would make your life much simpler if all those essentials match each other.

I'm sorry I can't give more specific advice. Your question is such a vast one, it's hard to answer. You would probably get more responses if you started by telling us what you're thinking of taking.

I tried to piggy-back on Parsley's post about Paris (nice alliteration), but apparently the conversation had ended, so I need to start again! Here goes:

I'm visiting Paris for the first time in November, and I'd love to pick up some wardrobe advice from Angie and the YLF crew! Since it will be my first visit, I'd welcome any tips on colors and styles for Paris, particularly what I should NOT wear. (Let's assume for the sake of brevity that I know how to avoid looking too much like a tourist!)
I'm a "youthful" fifty-something with a busty hourglass figure. All advice is appreciated!
