The oxfords are my favorite. I like the boots and loafers too but it is up to you to choose what you like and use. Jeans look good but not if you don't love them.

I like the jeans, the loafers and the oxfords best here. The dress looks too small and I'm not so sure about that muted color palette on you here. For the booties, they look fine but if you are not in love with them, for the price, not worth keeping.

Perhaps you received a dud pair of Aquatalias, C1. Back they go.

The burgundy dress is super cute.

RunswithScissors: I was hoping more for a true (brighter) burgundy, and pairing it with cream and black. I have a LOT in the brighter burgundy shade, but this browned purple is not something I'm a big fan of.

Suz: I will be interested to know what you think of the Aquatalias and the Dres--I'm sure our opinions will differ, so take mine with a grain of salt! The wrinkling issue Carter talked about is real, though--the fresh pair of jeans was wrinkled before I even put them on, so they must have been a return that wasn't properly pressed or something.

Firecracker: Hi back to shoe twin! I'm glad I wasn't the only one somewhat unimpressed by the Aquatalias.

Rachy: I'm not in love with the fit and flare front and dropped hem ruffle back combination, so yeah, the dress is going back. Also I think the neckline could be more flattering--it's kind of neither here nor there on me.

Skylurker: I see our assessments of the items are very similar I actually wear loafers all the time and wore out my last pair, so this fills a needed hole--I prefer shoes I can slip on and off but only have laced shoes at the moment.

Colette: I'm sure the ankle issue would not be as bad if I wore them in the winter with taller socks. I wonder what you will think of the wrinkling!

I bought the Betsey Johnson to go with the leather-look leggings, but I will be pairing it with this dress that I already have instead! More of what I consider a true fit and flare and a true burgundy

Thanks for the reviews. My Aquatalia booties seemed very soft around my ankles, I'll have to try them again. And I ordered the Dres but I fear mine will be going right back as soon as I receive them based on all the wrinkling reviews. I think the dress is very nice, maybe the right fit would make you like it. But the oxfords and loafers look great on you!

The dress looks way too small.
I think I understand about the dres, I don't like denim that doesn't feel like denim either.
I don't like the boots, they look very chunky on your feet.
Like the loafers and oxfords.

Yes to all but the dress. The skirt is off, with that sort of not-ruffled hem part. Love the shiny oxfords

Hey, shoe twin! Glad you like the AGLs--they look great on you and seem to fit your style. I think the loafers are very cute on you, too. Hmmm, the booties. I like them on you. But I found them a little underwhelming in person, too, when I tried them on--but then, I wasn't really after another gray suede bootie, since I bought a pair last year.
I'm biased toward the Dres, because I have last year's version of that style and color. I wear mine slouchier, and I LOVE them. If the Paige's are your favored burgundy jean, it's worth holding out to see if they come back in stock. And, I can understand wanting to keep to a budget, and not settling for anything that isn't true love.

Given Angie's thoughts on the dress, why not try a size up? It's such a fun, pretty dress, and if it were a good fit, it looks like a style that is designed with you in mind!

I love the colour of the AGL loafers -- wow!! And yes, I understand what you mean about "summer sole" goggles. I get that about all kinds of out of season wear. It's hard to imagine you'll want or need some features until -- whoops -- you do.

The Aquatalia's look nice on you (and selfishly, I am glad to see their true colour is a blue grey!!) but if you don't like the feel of them, back they go. I hope I feel differently about that, gulp. But I guess if I don't I will save some money. I won't even tell you the Canadian price. :)

The Dres are sounding less appealing to me by the minute but again, I will wait and see. I sized up in my blue pair of these (from several years ago) because I prefer them looser -- sort of a slouchy skinny look. Perhaps they are best worn that way.

The dress is super cute but doesn't seem as if it fits right. I kind of love the idea of a sober plaid in a flirty style.

Looks-wise, I love both the AGLs and the Aquatalias! But agreed, for $300 I'd want a more "pettable" bootie. :)

I like the Dres on you too, and to me a "rusty aubergine" color actually sounds easier to work with as a neutral than a true burgundy to me. But I guess it depends on what's in your closet. And if you feel you can find something you love more relatively easily, why settle?

I am ambivalent about the dress -- it fits, but not in a "wow' way. maybe Angie is right and a size up would make the difference!

Angie, granted this isn't the way I'd be wearing them, but the suede on the Aquatalias is so rough it abraded the skin on both of my ankles just in trying them on Didn't help in dispelling the stiffness notion. They do look very nice on the foot and don't have too much gappage for narrow ankled people.

Thanks for the clarification about the Betsey Johnson dress. There is a seam running across the back of the dress about hip/thigh level, and I think that definitely makes the cut a bit different from my other fit-and-flare dresses, which flare out quite dramatically from the waist. I'll consider buying a larger size and seeing if that improves things.

I don't love the colors or the wrinking (or the loose threads!) on the Dres, so they're going back.

I like the last oxford, but not with the dress. The rest I would say go back. I think the aquatalias look a bit wide around your ankle.

The Paige burgundy jeans came back in a lot of sizes so keep looking. I thought I had waited too long for my size, but it came back.

(The BJ frock is a fit and flare. A dropped waist dress has a seam on the hips - 1920's style).

My dear C1, the cut line of the dress is not too low on your waist! The dress looks small, and might fit better a size up.

If you like a very snug fit, the Dres look great.

Loafers look fab.

AGL's are gorgeous. A very YOU shoe.

I am very surprised to hear you not like the Aquatalias. They ticked every box in my book. If they were not grey, they would be mine. But if you're not feeling them - by all means return them. You have to love them.

Actually, everything I ordered except the Barbour jacket and Spanx leggings (which are backordered...) came in today. And a lot is probably going back.

(1) Betsey Johnson dress. The print and feel of the fabric were wonderful, but the fit was not great--this is actually more of a dropped waist dress than a true fit and flare. I think part of the problem is that the dress is actually too long in the waist on me--I usually don't have this problem in true fit and flares, but the dropped waist creates that problem. It pulled across my hips too much because the waist was sitting too low. This is definitely going back.

(2) Rag and Bone dres, in Burgundy. I loved these on everyone else on the forum but once I saw them for myself I was not wowed. For one they're more of a browned purple than what I'd call a true burgundy. Carter and others weren't kidding on the wrinking in the front--the pair I got was *already* wrinkled. The fit is actually fine, but I have tried on more flattering jeans (including the Hudsons I tried on at Nordstrom this weekend) and this is more than I usually pay for a jean, so...probably going back. Maybe I'll stalk the Verdugos to see if they come back in a 26.

(3) Aquatalia booties. I am not sure what to make of these. They are definitely quite sleek, but I expected them to be softer--they are quite stiff and the suede doesn't have that amazing soft look, maybe because they are waterproofed suede? These were about $300 and I feel like I could probably get 2 good pairs of booties from another brand for that much money, especially on sale. Probably a return, especially given price.

(4) Franco Sarto loafers. Totally fine as an item, this particular size (5.5) is a bit too small. Going to exchange for a 6.

(5) AGL oxfords. Wasn't that impressed by them online (though I like my existing AGL oxfords), saw them in person this weekend at Nordstrom and fell in love. They didn't have my size in store though so they had to be ordered. The thing that threw me off online was the chunky sole, but that was partially summer goggles--I wouldn't wear these oxfords in the summer like I do with my other AGLs, but that tread and sole will be perfect for fall and winter, both in terms of weather conditions and in terms of darker color palette.

I appreciate your thoughts as well!
