Thanks, all. I ordered Uniqlo tights, leggings and a long-sleeve tee. And, Mander, I've actually been looking for a down "sweater" for awhile - I just ordered a girls' XXL from Patagonia. Fingers crossed it fits!

LOL, Kelly - good thing it will be spring here when we get back and I can put away my black boots and sweaters...

I think the fleece and a hat will be great if you are spending any time on the beach in northern England! Even in high summer, when it is relatively hot in town, it can be cold and windy on the beach. Or, if you can find one, those packable down jackets (I think Uniqlo does one?) are also great -- super light but quite warm, and perhaps a tiny bit more stylish than your standard zippy fleece.

Your outfits are fabulous, but I echo what the others say about warmth, and I run hot. I'm in London, and have just seen a few snowflakes drifting past my window, and it's -1℃ here today, with an easterly wind making it feel much colder. Of course, in acouple of weeks it could be warmer. Or wetter. Or about the same. So make sure you have cold weather and warmer weather outfit options.

Wow, I love travel capsule posts. Yours is inspirational and I especially love the skirt and scarf together. Having been to England, I do wonder about your getting cold, so I'd bring a couple warm underlayers or something fleecy and a warm cap of some kind. I'm from the rain forest of WA state and still managed to be cold and wet in England.

LOVE! You are going to be one stylish traveler! My only concern is that you will tire of these fab outfits by the time you get home. (I always get so weary of my clothes on vacation and end up hating everything by the time I get back.) You have a killer capsule!

You look fantastic and this appears to be the perfect capsule wardrobe for what you're describing! I will echo the warmer jacket comments (maybe something like a nice waxed Barbour or quilted jacket?) and while it really doesn't seem likely that you'll need it, for Europe I would always toss in one travel-ready black dress. I just find I always always wear the darn thing, even when I'm supposed to trekking through wilderness or something.

I too have a mild tic when I look at the mixed denim in #7, but that may be the lighting or a minor character flaw in me. :-)

I am in love with your white jeans, and as a pear, I'm am so so jealous of them. Sigh.

With the caveat that you look completely amazing in everything, I think the outfits with jackets and tucked in trousers are especially flattering - really emphasize how long your legs are!

Oh - and I second taking an emergency fleece layer, a beanie, and gloves. Lifesavers when the going gets truly cold.

A great travel capsule here. I would like to see one or two more prints if you can bring them. For myself, when I wear too many solids too often, I grow tired of them. Maybe a striped layering top or a dot print layering top?

As a resident Brit I think you really do need to think about warmth for sure. Over here in March and even early April It can be cold enough for snow or it could be really warm. Our weather really can be all over the place. You could definitely do with a couple more tops for layering and a good warm topper. Having said all I must say that you look fab in all your outfits. I think 10 has to be my fave. I love your animal print belt.

Sarah thesse outfits look fantastic and i am taking notes for my trip. I am so glad everyone else mentionee warmth. I go in April and looking at warming up! Late march I froze in those locations but the extra jacket layer hat and stockings should do the trick. Personally I would add the extra tshirt as well. If anyone sees an aussie wearing something similar it will be me copying some of hese looks. The leopard accents are really great!

I was thinking you'd be wearing the trench over your jackets over sweaters. If that's not the case, I'd definitely look for a warmer coat. A hat that covers the ears also a good idea.

I love all the outfits! You have a great balance of comfort, style, and a few dressier pieces for the fancier museums etc. My question was also going to be whether you'll be warm enough... from what I've heard it can get cold and a bit rainy in spring. Maybe you could solve the laundry issue and help with warmth with a few of those Uniqlo heattech tops for layering under? And then one more coat?

Hmmm. It's so tricky. I may end up bringing my peacoat, too. It doesn't play as well with layers.

Thing is, in March even around here I might be switching to a (layered under) trench.

Thank you all SOOOO much. This is super helpful.

Angie, if only I were tall - THEN I would look Dutch LOL! OK, I am on a mission to add more knitwear to this capsule.

Astrid and Marcy (and Angie) - thanks for waking me up to the fact that even though I'm leaving Minnesota, I'm NOT going to the Bahamas!!!! LOL. I need to rethink the warmth thing. The trench is water resistant but doesn't have a lining, and I've bought and returned countless warmer trenches over the past 6 months and have been searching in vain for a lighter-weight wool coat. I will keep looking, but in a pinch, I will do what Astrid advises and bring my very warm black wind resistant fleece (Angie, close your ears) to layer under the trench. Not idea, but better warm than sad and cold. I will also bring some kind of black leggings that can double up as tights with that skirt and as a layer, and I will also search for a couple more knitwear pieces that can be layered over camis/chambray and under the blazer.

And, I'll probably bring winter caps all around for the whole family (thanks, Isis and Marcy!).

WOW, I'm so glad I posted this - you are all the BEST!!!

Everything looks spectacular. I would just revisit the topper situation. I think March is still pretty cold for the blazer and the jean jacket as toppers alone. Is the trench warm enough and does it play well with all of your bottoms?

ETA: I happen to agree with Parsley on this one. I would bring an actual peacoat or something similar, if you don't want to carry a full length coat, especially because it can be hard to find a winter coat in March. Most stores have turned over to their Spring / Summer inventory.

Being cold on vacay = no fun:(

You also have to consider that you will spend extended periods of time outdoors, when the wind and probable rain will add to the chill factor. It is not the same as getting in and out of your car, you know?

Suz and Sarah, I'm going to be in Paris beginning the middle of March, which granted, might be a little colder, but I'm taking an insulated all-weather coat - not as warm as a down coat, but pretty warm. And a hat and gloves. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I've been in Paris in March before when it SNOWED.

You have the best style. Why don't I look like you? Answer me that! Lol.

In the interest of packing brevity, I'd personally cut the red scarf and two of the bottoms, and add a top as per Suz (I'd probably do a tee of some sort).

Also, not that anyone is interested (hehe), but my knees get cold. I'd either be wearing tights under my pants or take a coat that covers my knees. In the old days it would have been the latter, but these days probably the former.

Also, someone remind me in future that I might like a light colored denim shirt...

Hmm. Sarah, My plan is a light trench, leather jacket and thin sweaters to layer underneath it - so you and are on the same "warmth" page. I'll also have camisoles. I had wondered if I would need my pea coat. But for us the temps will be a lot warmer than we would be used to in March. What are your thoughts on this? My feeling is I will be warm enough if I bring gloves, tights, the right layering pieces for under the (inlined) trench, but maybe I am wrong, in which case maybe we both need lighter wool coats as well? What think you?

You are tempting me to take my white jeans, too, but I have no laundry facilities and London is gritty.

My only suggestion is to bring a thin knit beanie that fits into the pocket of your trench. That'll help if you get cold or if it starts to rain and takes NO room.

I love all your outfits - like I always do - so I am no help at all. The white jeans are a better idea than the black and I'm glad they make you feel happier too :)

My only concern is for your warmth. You need a Spring coat! Will your trench be warm enough? I am channeling my "I'm always cold" persona aren't I.

I wouldn't bring any blouses - knitwear all the way. And the denim shirt is perfect.

It's a very casual capsule, but that's probably fine since it sounds like a casual trip. Taking comfortable walking shoes is key, and it looks like you have that well covered.

I wonder whether you'll be warm enough for the coolest days. The weather this time of year can be so variable. I assume your coat has a warm, hopefully zip-out lining? And is it water repellant? I imagine you can expect a fair amount of rain. And I don't know about England so much, but in southern France (do I remember correctly that you'll be in Provence?) it can be VERY windy, which can make it feel really cold. I have been freezing in France in similar clothing sometimes even in May. If your coat has a warm liner and you can layer your chambray shirt or turtleneck with one of your sweaters you should be OK. Of course other days may be sunny and warm as can be, but it looks like you're set for that.

I love the white pants as long as you'll have convenient laundry facilities. If not I'd swap them out for a more dirt-disguising color.
Can either your Kut jeans or the white ones be worn on the outside of your Frye boots? It might be a nice change and slightly less casual than tucking them.

I would take a pair of tights to wear with the skirt for weather flexibility.

Overall great capsule, and it looks like you'll be able to travel pretty light.

If you don't mind telling where you'll be in France I might have some recommendations for you if you're interested!

Have a fantastic trip!
Marcy

I'd definitely bring the black boots. You need some great footwear that stands up to bad weather and walking around the countryside. I'd just wear them on the way, that way only the shorter boots and the sneakers take up space in the carryon. I always do that when I take boots.

As for keeping warm, have you considered taking one layer that you can use under the trench in emergencies and maybe wear at home in the evening? When I go somewhere in fall, winter or spring I always take my fleece jacket with me. It's gear, but I can layer it over my sweater and under my jacket if it suddenly gets cold and stay warm that way. You don't see it when I wear the jacket and I take it off with the jacket when I'm indoors. Just a thought.

ETA We came to the same conclusion.

Roro - I can wear one pair on the plane, so I think I'm set (and I can always rob space from my kids!)

Hi Roro, actually the boots are the same in 2-7, so I'm getting a lot of use out of them. I realize that white jeans aren't so practical, but for me, they really make things springier and fresher, so I've decide to ignore my usually very practical style persona!

Thanks, Claire - I'll have to think about that black skirt thing. Although you can't tell in these pics, I am so off black these days!

Oops, now I see that you wear the boots with other outfits. If it were me I think I would select on pair of boots to save space. Such a shame to pick because they both look so good!

I think you look great in all of them, and I really like the outfit in 10. You look very chic in everything.
I seems you only wear the black boots with one outfit. It looks fab, but wondering if you can make do with tights and the other boots? Purely from a packing point of view, boots take up a lot of space in a carryon. Also, the white jeans look great, but wondering how practical they will be to stay clean if you will be rewearing them? Again, from a packing point of view maybe you can do without and throw in a couple more tops.
I think your toppers look great, also. Have a wonderful trip!

I am astounded Sarah! These are awesome outfits and you look fantastic in every single one. My only thoughts are: would you perhaps consider a black skirt instead of the light one in case you need to *fake* a black dress? You might never wear it, but it's like a little "insurance policy". I might not wear a denim jacket with the blue jeans, but I love it with the white jeans. Your BF's might be even more practical than the white jeans, but it's hard to argue with the fantastic look your white jeans provide. How wonderful that that those great boots are 12 hour footwear. Love both pairs.

ETA: OH! You have laundry! Take the white jeans for sure then.
