I love #1 on you too, and I also think a stiff skirt should be avoided at all costs, particularly on a first day. Good luck!

Hey, I'd do the dress in #3 with the sweater in #2 and the boots in #1.

But wait! I though the IT uniform was short sleeve tee over long sleeve tee, canvas pants, and chucks?;)

Thanks, ladies, for you input. I don't own any nude hosiery (and the boots would snag them anyway). I am still undecided, leaning towards #1...it is 32 def F out at the moment, and the weather reports a predicted high of 46...so I am not sure if I can go without tights...OTOH, once I'm ensconced in the new office I will only need to go outside for a very brief moment to cross the street for lunch. SIGH. I have to go get dressed now.

Nr 2! (which is hip and the youngest for me). Than nr 1 which probably can make more of an authoritive impression, but I understand it's not too comfy, which can decrease your level of confidence-and if so, not that good...

(Glad to see you Jenava!:-))

Number 1 is my hands-down favorite. "A bit traditional" is probably the space you want to be in on the first day, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Over time you can bring out the bigger fashion guns.

good luck on the new job. sounds like a great opportunity. am interested in how working from home works sartorially for you...

#1 is my choice...great take on edgy luxe matchy-matchy. i also prefer the v-neck on you.

I like #1 best, too, for day 1 on the job. It looks professional, probably dressier than the usual at your new workplace--given your description of it--but I think it's not bad and perhaps good to be a little overdressed the first day. I'm with Deborah--wondering if you could wear nude hose with the outfit, for warmth.

I vote #1. I think the luxurious texture of the leathers will detract from any sense of the outfit being too traditional. Wow, those are gorgeous pieces. And Jeneva, may I just say again that I truly admire your style. The quality of your pieces just jumps off the screen and you always look so elegant and modern, no matter what you are wearing.

They all look good but based on you comments I vote #1 as this sounds the most comfortable outfit out of the three: for me high comfort level is very important for the first day on the job when stress level can be high.
BTW I envy you can go hose-less tomorrow: I would need my puffer and shearling boots to ward against the arctic cold!

Hi ladies,
Please help me choose an outfit for work tomorrow! I will be working for a smallish consulting company in an internal IT position. The office appears to be on the casual side of business casual...

Coming from the fashion retail industry I want to appear young and hip, but professional.

On to the outfits.

#1 is a dark purple seamed sheath dress from Adrienne Papell, worn with taupe leather jacket and taupe knee-high boots with gold details. I would not wear hosiery with this. PROS: I like the color combo, it's comfy. CONS: a bit traditional?

#2 is an embossed leather pencil skirt that is rather high-waisted, however you can't tell because I'm wearing a slouchy-fit grey cashmere sweater over it. Worn with tights and black suede wedge booties. PROS: The sweater is extremely comfortable, and I feel this hits the right note of not being over-dressed but looking professional. CONS: too boring? Skirt is a bit uncomfy to sit in, due to being high-waisted and stiff.

#3 is similar to #1, but a more modern dress. A touch longer and slimmer, it is also crewneck rather than v-neck. It's a bit body-con. I'd need to wear tights with this, or I'd wear black leather booties that come up a bit on the ankle and are slim fitting. PROS: The most modern of the outfits, I think. I like this dress and it is comfy, but haven't worn it much because, CONS: dress is very fitted. I'd wear Spanx w it, which would lessen it's comfort level
