NK, you look fabulous in skinnies. No exception at all!

You know how we feel about you in skinnies - but you have to feel it too. If bootcuts are a more fun way for you dress, then feel free to stick with it.

To Maya's point, fashion *is* all about having fun. I mention that in blog posts over and over again. That's why I do what I do and that's why YLF was created. I hope we can help you have fun with fashion too :0)

No, NK, everyone here has told you that you look great in them, so why would you think you are an exception? Not at all. This isn't about how WE see you--it's about how you see yourself. Your posts are just so often full of negativity towards your body, and I find it happens most when discussing pants and jeans. There are others here who have decided to sit out of wearing skinnies. Some who have even decided to sit out of jeans completely. Just wear what makes you feel good. It sounds like a no brainer, but it's amazing how frequently we forget that fashion, clothes, and shopping should be FUN and make us feel good about ourselves. If something isn't making you feel good, then just don't wear it!

Thanks to everyone for all of the responses!

The reason I keep trying 'skinny' stuff is because it seems like every time I post a new top, or jacket, or shoes, I get suggestions to try it with skinnies. That, and I know it's the quickest way to update my look. I wear jeans a lot, even though mine aren't very flattering, because it's just what I'm used to wearing, but mine all are boot cut because their from the last time I bought jeans and I thought that was what flattered me. Ha!

So I'm not actually the exception to the statement that anyone can wear skinnies? I just feel like I look even heavier in them. I'll try the longer tunics I have before I make a final decision.

Thanks for the link, Fi. That's a great look!

I appreciate the ideas and suggestions from everyone!

Do you wear skinny jeans? To me, the jeggings look almost like skinny jeans on you. If you are comfortable in skinny jeans, I would say skip the jeggings and wear the skinnies instead. It will have the same effect.

Many things going through my head.

First, NK - that's a KILLER outfit. The top is sensational and it blew me away!

Second, Fi is fab for linking to her own picture. If you feel self conscious, try your long belted shirt tunic over this outfit first. You look killer in that too. It makes for an excellent stepping stone.

Third, Maya is right in that you have to *feel* fab in an outfit. I can say you look killer, but unless you feel it, it's just not the same thing.

Hope that makes sense.

In totally agreement here, I think you look great, but Maya "the wise" is of course right, if you are not comfortable, then there is little point adopting a look just because others like it.

I am by no means a skinny minnie and my thighs are on the chunky size, but I love my jeggings, but for me I need to soften the look, so a mid-thigh tunic and then you can either choose to surrender your waist or not - this is a look I wore one day during the no black challenge, - I think I look ok here (excuse the stupid look on my face) - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/.....directlink

I had a flick through your blog and I wonder if trying the jeggings with the top you wore here - http://whenlifehandsyouapear.w.....-today-15/

and here (did you keep the top?) - http://whenlifehandsyouapear.w.....or-return/ might work.

Also, do you have any dresses that are a tad too short? Have a go with some of them as well!

First of all, I think your behind looks great. Second of all, I think you would feel a lot more comfortable if you chose a woven top rather than a knit top (to go a little Angie on you). Do you have a longer button down like Angie sometimes wears or some kind of a woven tunic? You should definitely try it before you say the look is not for you. Finally, on the length--personally I like a little scrunch with heels, but this is possibly a hair too much. You can just flip the hem under to the length you like and, depending on the thickness of the material, not need to actually hem.

Amen, Sister Maya I almost put that in my post too -- that we are grown women who can feel free to adopt, or not, whatever looks we like.

Some looks become too much work (time/money) and aren't fun anymore. BUT some we come to love after (maybe) an initial learning curve.

So, NK - whatever you decide to do is a-okay

I actually like all of your pictures, but I noticed you never seem to be happy in pants and jeans and ESPECIALLY anything skinny, so I wonder why you force yourself to wear these looks if they make you so unhappy. Of course you get points for trying, but if it is going to fill you with loathing for your body, then why not just stick to the things that work for you? As I said, *I* like the jeggings on you, and I seem to be in good company, but if you don't like them and you have this many doubts and insecurities in them, then it doesn't matter. You're the one who is wearing them, and you have to feel good in them.

I like the jeggings -- and you always get points for trying a new look You have great curves!

If you decide to keep them, I would consider shortening them a bit to avoid too much scrunching. (I can never keep track of what I have seen in pics of people, so... ) Do you have some wedge sandals to try with them? The shoes you have on are super cute, but very high heeled, and for me that would mean I can only go out for dinner in them IF I am dropped AND picked up at the door of the restaurant!

I like the top with the low slung belt as well as unbelted. For me, I have big quads that begin about 3 inches above my knee cap and (I like to think) my sweet spot for tunic type tops is right there - about 3-inches above my knee caps. So you may want to experiment with different length tops to see what you like best!

I think you can do jeggings, but I think you need a longer top. I like the belted in your usual spot and unbelted look for the top, just not this top with these bottoms. I also think the jeggings need to be shortened, I'm not a fan of the scrunched look. So I vote yay to the jeggings, with some modifications. BTW you have great curves!

I think they look good but IMO you should try them with the tunic which comes somewhere at or after your mid thigh. Also if tunic defines your waist but does not cling to your hips/thighs it will look better. Try A-line or empire waist where it defines your upper body and then flares over your hips. I have full thighs too and this works for me.

I love the idea of the long necklace that st4rrgrrl suggested with the top, no belt and the jeggings and shoes.

I think the shoes plus the belt would look great over a floral dress for example, to 'toughen' it up, if that makes sense.

I think they look great in the first two, and agree that belting at the waist or not at all don't look quite right. I do understand the struggle though, because you need to emphasize your waist in order to look curvy, and without your hand on your waist you risk surrendering the waist since the belt is so low... Do you have a more structured top that emphasizes your waist without a belt?

Awww, NK, you should really be nicer to yourself! "Big thighs and behind"? Pfft! You have enviable curves!

Awesome shoes!!! I'm not sure what the right formula for this is--I agree that the belt at your natural waist isn't the best. I think I would like it with the top worn naturally, not hiked up, no belt, and with a long necklace. The jeggings do look to be too long, but I think that I rather like them this way--they're kinda "scrunched" like you see now with the sleeves of boyfriend blazers. I've actually seen leggings and jeggings that have ruching at the bottom to create the "scrunching" effect.

I think I'd like to see the jeggings with boots and a tunic. Don't you have a long white button-down tunic that you've posted before?

And my reaction is "Eh." I feel self conscious and I just don't think this is the right look for my big thighs and behind. :(

I tried them with this longer top and my funky sandals, and a belt:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....716124490/

From behind:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....otostream/

I tried them with a high waist belt, which is how I'm used to wearing belts, and it looks weird:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....otostream/

Then I tried ithe top hiked up a little bit with no belt:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....otostream/

I asked my husband if I look like a street walker in this get up and he assures me I don't, but I just don't see these tight pants working for me and my thighs.

Don't they just emphasize everything I'm trying to hide?

<<<<<Big sigh>>>>
