SS I can't wait tos ee how you are looking by the end of summer. I love your fearlessness at trying new things and I have no doubt that in a few months time you will be a completely different summer frame of mind (and wardrobe). You can do it!!!

Firstly, used car-salesman or not, your boyfriend is right - you ARE beautiful. :-)

OK, now down to business. Coming from a hot climate, I can vouch that you will feel much cooler in either a dress or a skirt than you will in shorts/capris. It must be something to do with the air circulation I guess. However, I do agree with you, shorts are definately practical.

Now, whilst I don't really like the top on you to be honest, to me the shorts do have some potential if they are matched with a slightly more fitted top/blouse. Also, as the shorts are also a fuller cut, I'd like to see them with a daintier shoe as well to help balance the fullness against sleekness.

Below, just to get you thinking about your own wardrobe, I've listed a couple of styles of tops I'd love to see with these shorts to see if the styles work nicely together (oh how I wish I lived in US or UK at times like this!):

http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/.....t-Top.html

http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/.....Shirt.html

Do you have anything like this in your wardrobe to try your shorts with? If so, try it on so we can have a look!

I think the shorts *could* work if paired with a slimmer fitting top? x

I like the polo dress idea if you like polo shirts. I agree with Kristine, the outfit looks too baggy. Can't wait to see you in some dresses and walking shorts!

Thanks ladies - I'm liking the dress idea...I need to get some capri length leggings, but dresses might be my new style. They are definitely comfortable!!

I think both of these items are a little big or baggy on you. You'd look great in some cargo capris and a slim cut tank top or shirt. I also love the idea of dresses for the summer, they're so easy. I'd like to find a few myself! So how about looking for dresses that hit you around knee length?

I'm a self admitted jean-aholic. Slowly I'm coming over to the breezier (doesn't that spelling look totally weird?) side and embracing dresses. They are so comfortable and with a really lightweight pair of capri leggings they're also practical (this from a MOTG of a just learned to walk wednesday toddler). I just grab a dress and go. I can go from dead sleep to walking out the door in under 30 mins. Even with leggings dresses are still cool enough for the summer especially with a sleevless dress. I just take a cardigan (or jacket for team jacket-ers) to cover me if its cold inside.

I'm gonna say pitch both of those items. Okay, maybe keep the top if you really love it, but I'm not a fan of polo shirts. And shorts need to be much more fitted to your legs like Maya said.

Totally agree on the dresses. People seem to think dresses are hard and high maintenance, but I find them quite the opposite. I don't have to match multiple pieces, make sure the shape and proportions are even between top and bottom, worry about anything staying tucked in, etc. And I also look put together even if I grabbed the nearest thing while running out the door.

By the way, if you love polos try polo dresses. I bought one last year and it's the best casual summer outfit ever. Every Polo outlet has them for super cheap.

Ok I realize not everyone is a dress fiend like I am but I can honestly say embracing dresses is one of the best fashion decisions I ever made! It makes summer so much easier and more cost efficient.

Also try a pair of straight leg walk shorts. They don't need to cling to your legs (I loathe that feeling in the summer, it makes the atmosphere feel about 20 degrees hotter than it actually is).

Hello, and I feel like I had a fashion relapse this weekend, when the weather allowed for wearing shorts.....Pasty white legs aside, I'm in serious need of a summer style makeover!!
