Ooh, I'll have to try this when I get a minute.

I'm with you on my warm vs. cold climate not matching my wardrobe proportions. The fact is, I don't find winter clothes very interesting. They're expensive and boring. I did finally find some winter-worthy shoes for this year, so now I have five pairs of boots/booties, plus two pairs of snow boots. That's for about five months of winter. Still not where it needs to be...

Fun project! I have most of my wardrobe in finds, but arranged in seasonal or coordinated capsules. This makes it easier for me to check in-store whether a new addition will work with many items I own. For number crunching I prefer my excel spreadsheet, eg to filter out per season, year of purchase...

L'abeille, my SIL made a good point today ... She noted that in summer we tend to go out, socialize and sweat more ... Ergo more wardrobe changes required. Hadn't thought of it, but it made sense to me!

I think I share your summer to winter proportions, both in climate and in numbers (although I don't dare actually count). Here's my excuse:

A few years ago, when our new house wasn't ready to move into yet, we put a bunch of stuff in storage. Once summer came of course the house wasn't ready yet, but all the summer clothes were packed away. So I got a replacement summer wardrobe, mainly by thrifting. The thing is, once I got all my old favourites back, I didn't want to get rid of the new-to-me ones either.

It turns out that in fall/ winter I am happy to rewear the same items multiple times, even in the same combinations and as often as every week. Whereas in summer, I enjoy choosing a different dress or cropped pant every day. Some items may get worn only once per season (or less, depending on the weather and vacation plans). It seems to make the all too brief season feel like it lasts longer.

That’s fast work indeed Torontogirl and SO much more entertaining than doing the ironing.I am sure that you will find it a very useful thing to have when managing your wardrobe.

I am awed by Helena & Janet's industry. I need to dive into my sweater drawer and do a Marie Kondo on it so I can find things. The closet will have to wait...and the jeans drawer...

It is a very useful project. I have most of my wardrobe in Finds. I still need to add some custom Finds and accessories. It becomes very obvious to me what I like buying, which is easy for me to buy, what seasons are overrepresented (not winter!!!!!), and so on.
It is like doing a budget only more fun. At least I think so.

Helena (and Janet) OMG your collections look FANTASTIC!! Nicely done!
I thought adding Finds for existing pieces felt daunting at first, but surprisingly, I found it went by pretty quickly. Sorting and grouping stuff feels therapeutic (for me anyway). YAY!

Whoa you guys. Y’all feeling all active. I have 4 boxes of winter clothes that I have removed from the closet... and then slightly pushed aside so I can get through the door. I did that oh... Saturday. That’s as far as I’ve gotten on the winter switch-out. There will be no photographs. Lol

Wow, great work! I think these kind of exercises can be really instructive.

I did something similar yesterday riding in the car -- at least I started, LOL. This is kind of a drop in the bucket, but its a decent start, and I'm already seeing some patterns: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ember=jjjj

Oh dear oh dear ...

https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....orontogirl

What a fun and informative process! I've been doing this all morning lol (point of irony - in so doing, I have neglected to change out of my leggings and sweatshirt).

This is the majority of my wardrobe - notable exception is the incomplete accessories, but I must. step. away. (for now). I also haven't done gear, swimwear and loungewear, as I'm not sure I need to document those - maybe another snowy day! Photography is crap as the goal for today was to get it done while it's on my mind - I will refine and maintain going forward (*crosses fingers and knocks wood*).

The most interesting thing I've learned is that the proportion of winter to summer clothes (not dissimilar quantity) does not equal at all the proportion of winter to summer weather (winter highly dominant). Is it any wonder I am so bored with my clothes by mid-January - especially because a few on my sweaters have been around for years and I just don't enjoy wearing them. Hmmm, January sales ...? *sigh*

Thanks Nemosmom for inspiring this project!

Ok - now to do some actual work hah!
