I've read this old but very enlightening thread several times but didn't find my twin. I'm 5'3'', 35/36-26-35, hour-pear. I have some similarities with Mo as far as shape but am shorter and more pearish I think. I wear US size 6 top and bottom most often, often need a petite for tops. I think my inseam 28 inches.

anne, it actually sounds like we could be body twins! Like you, I have:

-square shoulders

-long waist

-short legs

-bust bust

-muscular thighs

I'm 5'2, and I have been classified as an X shape by Imogen too! On here, a lot of women say I look like an IT with hourglass tendencies or vice versa.

I'm late to this topic, but just found YLF in the past month! I think my shape is an an 8ish-hourglass leaning toward an apple.
Bra: 36DD or 38D**
Chest: 43
Waist: 38**
Hips: 42

Sloping shoulders, flat-ish bottom, very high hips/long femur & muscular calves. Thighs proportionately smaller than hips/waist. Pants are usually too low in the rise and baggy in the thighs/butt. I recently discovered high-wasted Gap skinny jeans, which actually sit at my natural waist!

**I have IBS and have lots of issues with my tummy. Because I'm food-sensitive, I look preggo half-way through the day and gain "weight" right under my bra line. So frustrating.

Hi, I've read through this thread a few times with the hope that I'll find my body twin...some of you are close but haven't quite seen anyone like me. If you're out there, be in touch!

5'4"
Weigh 128-130
Classic hourglass 37-31-37
34DD bust which is the greatest challenge in shopping/fit of clothes
Narrow shoulders, longer legs, feel generally short waisted.

Anyone? Still feel somewhat puzzled by clothing fit so would love to see images of someone with a similar figure.

Interesting topic! I don't know my measurements but I am a size six on bottom and size eight on top. I am average height 5 foot6 and 132 lbs. I have long skinny legs, short waist and a straight waist, narrow straight hips. Bra size is 34 B, pretty average there. Problem area is my mid section. I'd love to find a body twin so we could share styles, it can be had to find flattering tops! I would say I'm an rectangle with tummy? Any others like me out there?

Ooh, I'm interested in giving this a try.

Height: 5'4 (166cm)
Weight: 167.5lbs (76kg)
Bra Size: 36C or 36D
Bust: 41"
Waist: 34"
Hips: 43"
Top Size: AU 12-14
Bottom Size: AU 14-16
Shoe Size: AU 7-7.5
Foot Type: Duck
Body Type: Hourglass
Secondary Body Type: Pear

My bra size could be inaccurate because I've gained some weight over the past couple of months. Also, I'm not actually sure if I'm an hourglass since my bust is 2" smaller than my hips, but my shoulders align exactly with my hips and I have a short waist, so I'm going with that classification for the time being.

*crosses fingers and hopes to find a twin*

Ok.

I will give this a shot. I am not really curvy now that becoming a mom/time have filled in my waist. I am not willowy or angular either. I don't see my body type around much although I did see some recognition when I watched the Olympics. While definitely not a professional athlete :), I have the tall and strong body type.

Although I have long legs because I am on the tall side, I am not short or long- waisted--I'm pretty proportionate on top and bottom.

I am almost 5' 9" with measurements 38-30-38.

I am incredibly full busted so while most size 10s fit well for tops and bottoms, jackets and button downs can pull a little.

Where are you twin????

Hi Zapotee I know the feeling - lots of pear shapes on the forum but none that quite match my body type. Just checked the weight on my original post and I'm a bit lighter than my original post currently at 182 pounds with 17 pounds to loose.

Unless we have another 5.8, size 6-8, curvy latina on board, which is kind of a "white elephant" on its own kind, I am abandoning my search for a body twin. Seeing lots of you IRL made me realize I am much unlike anyone in this forum, even if we are at the same size range. It's allright! Fun thread.

I hope it's not too late to add to this conversation! I just found it.

Height: 5'3.5"
Weight: 127
Bra size: 32D
Bust: 35.5"
Waist: 28.5"
Hips: 37"
Body Type: IT (with 39" shoulders (I wasn't sure exactly how low on my arms to measure...at what point does a shoulder measurement include the arms?)
I'm not sure what my secondary body type is...when I look at pictures of myself I look hippy, so maybe it's a pear?
Jeans size 27 (or sometimes 28 for a looser fit)
Tops XS-M/6-8 depending on brand

I have a high waist and my legs always look short to me in pictures, but according to this ratio http://ladyshortlegs.blogspot......tions.html I am average (although I measured myself, so perhaps I should get someone to help me)

From looking at the replies in this post, I think that my body type is similar to those of Brenda, Kelly, Trix and Una.

I think you're right! Don't know how I missed it earlier...the "flat derriere" was one thing I didn't include in my description but should have. If only the fat in front (the stomach) would migrate a bit to the back and down (the rear view). So we should probably be looking at a lot of the same tops, even if I can't pull off the skinnies so well...

Trix, you sound somewhat close to me in proportion although I am 5'1". I'm 120 pounds at the moment, 32DD, size 4 or 6 (P depending on brand), and a round IT with little waist definition and proportionate legs. :) However I have no hourglass tendencies and my legs are muscle but quite skinny.

Another late poster! Hm, there are so many variables that I'm having trouble figuring out who might be my "twin." Breaking this down into general aspects of descriptions so that I can see who might match me in each of these areas:

Shape: between hourglass (figure 8) to inverted triangle (V)
muscular legs (both thighs and calves--this is the one reason that IT clothing recommendations don't work, as they assume thinner legs)

Measurements:
height: 5'3"
weight: usually between 127 and 130, but I think this is shifting more toward fat as I get older :-(
bust: 34C
measurements: a few years ago I was 35-27-37, but I think I might have to add half an inch to them nowadays
sizes: almost always 6P in both tops and bottom at Ann Taylor and J Crew but on large side of 6P at some other retailers (e.g., Boden, BR), or small side of MP; 28-29 in jeans (29 for the thighs but they tend to bag around the rear view); 8W to 8.5M in shoes

Proportions: petite
round (as opposed to elliptical)
short neck
short arms
strong shoulders

The funny thing is I always thought I had short legs, which should mean that I have a long torso, but if I have short legs and yet am almost at the height limit of petite sizing, doesn't this imply that I should fit regular sizes on top? But no, I need petite sizing for both length (arms, legs, torso -- actually I still need arms shortened) and width (in the ribcage).

I can find height/weight twins, and height/shape twins, but not petite size/shape twins. A couple of the "anonymous" posters and ButterflyLady, may be close in terms of shape/proportions though; a couple of people are similar but slimmer (e.g., Sylvie, Ruth, Cinnamon Fern) -- I'll keep an eye out for all of your posts though. Thanks to the OP for starting this!

I am short waisted and have a small bust. I don't have much of a rear end; the hips are wide rather than deep. I think that I may be what is called an 8 in Imogen's system--I just checked out her blog today. Any figure 8's on the forum?

Liz, you and I are very close in height and weight and measurements. I'm quite short-torsoed though, and my legs are long. In reading a recent thread about elliptical vs. round body shapes, I'm also more aware than I am definitely elliptical -- wider rather than deep. Flat belly, not much of a bum, but wide hips and fairly broad shoulders for my frame.

So amazing the ways the human body varies!

I never responded a year ago. . .

I think I have pearish tendencies. . .

5' 1" (but I used to be 5' 1.75"!!)
37" sloping shoulders measured around by myself
33" bust, 28F bra since 28" underbust (but until a few months ago I thought I was 32DD with a loose band since that is what is available in b'n'm stores)
26" waist
34-35" hips
Very, very long torso with long waist so regular size peplum tops seem to hit better than Petites
I carry my weight in my upper and lower legs and, to a certain extent my upper arms so my torso is about two sizes smaller than my legs, so no skinny pants for me!

I think my closest body doubles are citygirlDC and Sarah (whom I haven't *seen* around for awhile).

Ok here goes ..
I'm among the Plus sized out there ..grabbing measuring tape..
underbust 38 inches
full bust 46 -47inches( I wear a 40H bra usually)
Waist 41
High hip 55
low hip 57
inseam 32-33 for flats
I wear a 10 WW best in shoes or a 11 /11w depending on the last . I've noticed that I tend to find a better fit in shoes from Brazil or Italy and may have to size up to a 12 for a Made in China shoe.A 43 in European size shoes is about perfect. Boot shopping is nearly impossible as I have to find a ankle circumference of 12.5 inches and a calf of 21 inches.
My neck is average length,my torso is shortwaisted (6 inches from the underbust to my natural waist about 2.5 -3 inches from the bottom of my rib cage to my natural waist -where my waist creases when I bend at the side)
I have a fullish rear and a bit of a tummy and heavy thighs .I currently weigh around 265 right now (10/18/13) and wear 18/20-1x--22/24-2x in most clothing . I consider myself to be a pear/hourglass as my hips measure larger than my fullbust or shoulders(which are slightly narrower than my hips and don't sloape or square all that much.)
Hope this helps someone sometime!

Ok, I take back my previous comment. After looking again, I think my most useful size and fit comparisons will be Mo and Janet.

Mo, I'm about a size bigger (6) with about 2 inches on you in the torso.

Janet, we are the same size, but your inseam is like 3 inches longer!

At least I know that clothes will fit the three of us pretty similarly, so this is useful information

Viva, you might be wearing the wrong bra size. A lot of ladies are. I wore 34A or B ten years ago. Now I'm in 32C or 30D or DD when I can find them. My breasts are not bigger, I just got better fit. (28" underbust and 34.5" bust)
Beyond that, we may have some similarities.

This is really a fun thread! But I'm having trouble finding a twin. Every time I think I have one, I get to bra size and it's all over.
I'm pretty much a rectangle with a hint of pear.
5'5'', 129 lbs
small chest - barely 34 A
short-waisted, long legs and arms, narrow calves
smallish head, longish neck
I'm feeling very awkward and alien-like as I read this over!
Is there anyone out there like me?

Wow! I love this kind of thread. Sorry to revive so late, but Claire just linked to it, and I have to know who my twin is!

My closest matches allowing for a size up or down or slight variation in height seem to be lyn*, mrseccentric, MNSara, and Ginkgo. Do any of you recognize yourself in my proportions?

height: 5'6.5"
weight: 142lbs.
shoulders: 41" around
bust: 36.5"
underbust: 32"ish
waist: 28.5"
hips: 38.5"
shoe size: 8.5
inseam: 29.5" or so

long chest, short waist, long rise, short legs especially in the calf

I think I'm an X-shaped hourglass with a strong shoulder line and pear tendencies.

I don't know my measurements yet, but I think they may be similar to Katje.

I'm 5'7", 160 lbs. I wear a 12 or 14 in most things (Thankfully, fitting into more 12s recently). My bra size is 40D but I'm still nursing and expect that to shrink this summer. Both my wide shoulders and large post-baby belly cause me the biggest fit issues with tops. I'm still asked fairly frequently when the baby is due, even though I weigh less and am a smaller clothing size than I was pre-kids.

My "natural waist," the smallest part of my short torso, is a full 4 or 5" above my belly button. I have a flat bottom and very long legs.

I wear an 8W in nearly all shoes.

kimana517, I'm brand-new so you haven't seen me around, but I think we're pretty close to being twins - tall, mostly slender, pear/hourglasses, and proportionately short-waisted.

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 145ish (I'm working on losing 10-15 pounds I've put on in the last 2 years)
Dress: 4/6
Shoe: 9 (smallish feet - it's hereditary)
Small bust (32D)
Short-waisted (for height)
Wide-hipped, high hipped
Long rise
Long legs
"Hips about a size bigger - disproportionate to torso" (Check!)
Actual measurements: 34-28-41 (will be 34-28-39 when I lose the weight)
