Hi Crystal - I usually take a 9 1/2 in boots, but they were very large in the Frye. THe big problem for me was that the heel was enormous for me in the 9 1/2 and the back of my foot kept slipping out. Though the front felt fine with 9 1/2. So I went with the 9. They are a little tight ( I have bunions ...but don't cry for me ) and I am going to have them stretched a bit !!!

Good luck and happy "Fryeing" !!!!!! ( I also went with the Sand, though I wanted the Cognac and I am thrilled. I really love this never-thought-of color for me. I can't wait til Spring to wear them with skirts and white jeans - but I sure am enjoying them now too. )

I usually wear a 7.5. or an 8 - I never know for sure until I try them on - so, I ordered the 7.5. in these and they are a little loose - if I were to do it over again, I would order the 7, but they don't have them in that size - so, I am wearing the 7.5s with socks - planning to get an innersole also and I am sure that I will be fine. I have absolutely no trouble getting these on or off - so, I guess that I don't have high arches!

I ordered my regular size (But I never order down - I am terrified of tight shoes.) They did feel loose with a thin sock, but once I popped in an innersole (drugstore type) they were fine.

So I'm pretty sure if I do end up ordering these, I'll be going with my regular size (8), just to be safe. I don't think high arch will be a problem with me. If anything, I maybe have a low arch. I may see if I can find some boots with a similar ankle to try on before I make the big purchase.

I ordered down half a size in red (7, normally 7.5). If I had to do it again, I'd order my regular size because, like Kelly, I like to wear thick socks with boots. The size 7, I need to wear thin socks.

I ordered my regular size in black. I think I could have gotten away with a half size down but I like to wear thick socks and was afraid the 6.5 would be too tight. Initially, they were a bit difficult to get on but they have since loosened up. They practically slip on now!

I'd echo what Una said - I am always between two sizes and bought the smaller of the two, but that isn't what created the problems getting my foot in - it's more about the stiffness and narrowness of the ankle portion of the shoe, which makes it tricky to get your foot in.

I sized up a 1/2 size, technically. I'm a 5.5. wide, so I usually wear a 6 just for comfort. These are superhard to get on with a high arch, so I wanted some wiggle room. I still can't get my feet in them with real socks, even after having the heel area stretched. Once your foot is in, they seem pretty TTS.

If you're not going to be able to return, make sure your foot and ankle are flexible enough to get into a boot like this. Many reviews complain about this one issue in an otherwise gorgeous boot.

Don't want to discourage you, just don't want you to be disappointed.

I hate to confuse you -- you have a lot more at stake in getting them right the first time. . .

Be sure to read reviews at zappos.com, endless, com, and amazon.com also.

My personal experience was: I am a pretty definite 8.5 and my foot is slightly wide. I got an 8 because I do NOT like wearing heavy socks inside boots (these are not outdoor boots for me). They do stretch a little and I will end up being okay in thin socks and fine in hosiery inside them.

I hope that helps some but, please take my experience with a grain of salt. I am learning that the comfort I expect in shoes will not be the same comfort someone else expects. . . !!

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and finally order me a pair of Frye Rory boots!!! I really wish I could get them in Cognac, but I guess I'll go with Sand.

So, what size should I order? I'm usually an 8, but have been finding lately that I can wear some shoes/boots in 7 1/2. These boots are already over my budget and it will be too expensive for me to return these boots being as I'm in Canada, so I want to be sure. If I order them too big, I know I can get an insert and if I wasn't finding so many 8s being big on me lately, I'd just go for the 8, but I really want them to fit right.
