It is a gorgeous bag. So frustrating when the interior organization doesn't quite work the way you planned. (JAileen- your bag is perfect for you!)

I bought a Radley bag that is too small, but I just couldn’t resist it. The quality is excellent.

Have you looked at Hobo brand bags? Their Velvet leather are soft and pliable - the Vintage are stiffer. Most bags come in both varieties.
They are a bit more casual than the Radley, but I’ve been happy with the quality and durability of mine.
They are sold through many retailers, but their own site presumably shows the full collection.

Yes the elusive search for the perfect bag…sorry this one was not right. But at least you have more data now on what you don’t want

I buy essentially the same bag, in different colors, over the years. It needs to not be heavy or droopy, have a shoulder strap, have a zip top and one big compartment, and have inside side cell phone and key pockets. Then I add my own TSA ok toiletries bag and a small bag for electronic accessories that I move from purse to purse. I don’t like the ones with all the preset small compartments; I want to be able to put a range of things in the bag, ranging from folders of papers to a water bottle to a scarf.

It's a good interim solution! Pretty.

I wonder if buying a regular lightweight bag with an organizer that you insert separately is an idea?

That's too bad! It's a nice-looking bag. It is definitely hard to find one with all the right features.

It looks like a classy bag. It has taken me decades to figure out what I need in a summer bag. It must be big and open at the top to hold extra stuff like a topper for my outfit, a water bottle and maybe a book plus all the usual stuff. It must be strong but light weight and have the option to carry it on the shoulder or cross-body. If used for travel it must hold even more.
I have found that I am better off without lots of interior pockets. I just lose things in them. I like to use small fabric bags that can easily be moved from one handbag to another.

Buying bags is certainly a process. I love my new Radley but I understand that need for a softer bag. I hope you fine “the one”
Have you looked at Fossil bags. That have some nice soft leather ones.

I think I will call it a learning experience. I thought I had finally (two years of searching, but admittedly off and on) found "the one". Well, no. I did learn more of what doesn't work so well for me.

I really like the look of this Radley London bag. I bought it in light blue, not this bright blue color. It has the key features I needed...inside pockets for phone and keys and a zip pocket for papers. It is for sure better looking than my ancient and falling apart Coach.

But, the 3 separate compartments are not working as well as I hoped. Things have to be placed just so, it's a tight fit, and it's fussy to get things in and out. I have also learned I don't like the thicker-stiffer leather but prefer something lighter and softer. Finally, while I love the light blue color it makes me feel worried about stains and wear for daily use and I'm not someone who has multiple bags for different uses.

I've used it too much now to return it I think...it already shows some wear. I'll keep it because it looks good for sure, but the search for "the one" has not been called off.
