Nothing new to add here, but I do find that the boots are just fine. Not too tight, and the height works just great.

Best of luck at your interview!

The boots look lovely. I vote for the skirt suit because it fits more neatly (very smart with the boots). The pants suit is also good, tho, but I agree: don't wear the ruffled shirt with it. Too untidy.

Leaning toward gray and I think opaque tights and flats will work.
Since the sleeve hem appears plain (no cuff buttons), would it be possible for you to do a simple turn-under hem yourself and press it flat? I can understand if you don't feel that's possible, since I don't do much alterations myself either. Or do the sleeves handle a turn-back and scrunch look? Shorter sleeves would improve the professionalism and "lighten up" both jackets.

The boots look great!!! Perfect fit.

I have a small preference for the black pants suit, but given your need to wear flats, no time to hem the jacket, and the fact the gray suit is your lucky suit, then go with the gray suit.

Alternative suggestion: have you tried pairing the gray jacket with the black pants?? I suspect they'd go together beautifully. Though that doesn't solve your footwear limitation.

Thanks, everyone! I posted last night and went to bed so I'm just checking in now. It sounds like the overwhelming vote is for the skirt suit, which is great because it is my lucky suit. I think I agree with all the comments on the need for some color, though. I love red so maybe I will wear my favorite red turtleneck sweater instead of the turquoise crewneck I was planning on. I don't have a lower-necked red sweater or blouse.

If the skirt suit is lucky, then that is the one to wear! I would add a bit of colour in the top as well, if you can. Something that makes you feel happy.

The boots look really good from what I can tell. If the comfort is there, go for it.

Good luck at your interview!

I actually like the pants suit better; and I'd wear a smooth shirt under it, rather than the ruffled/layered look (which I love the shirt, but not with this suit for the interview.)

as for the grey suit, I would like that with semi opaque tights and flats rather than the boots, for an interview. even a kitten heeled pump adds a pop of, oh, I don't know, professionalism or elegance? and maybe your ankle could bear a really low heeled pump?) I have an interview this week too! I'm going black suit (pant not skirt, like yours) with a smooth white tank (my favorite layering tank or tee comes from white house/black market, but oddly, only in black or white! I'd like this tank in other colors)

good luck!

i prefer the pant suit, more generic for a first interview. Generic is good on a first interview, especially for this type of setting.

Both suits are lovely but for this case I would go with the grey one more feminine and not so formal!
Love the boots!

Us the grey suit is a good choice and I echo the advice of the others...add some color and personality to the outfit and you are good to go.

Professor - that's a major leap!! I vote skirt suit as well. I like the suggestion of adding some jewel tones in a scarf or in the top. As I know academia (humanities), the dress code is not super strict and there are plenty of room for adding personal touch and still being very professional. Maybe you can find some inspiration here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ure-in-wsj

All the best and break a leg on the interview!

Love the grey suit, it suits you beautifully (hehe...) But I think you really need to amp up the color with this! Agree w Dale r.e. a jewel tone - would like to see something in the red spectrum as a counterpoint to the cool tones of the suit. Maybe a silk scarf with a nice print as well?

I really like the boots! They look dressy and lovely. I vote keep!

I vote skirt suit as well. Its got interest, and never mess with the lucky suit. Given your limitations, the boots work for sure. Maybe mix up your cami with a jewel tone (all black and gray is a little somber) and/or accessorize your neck with color. Good luck, hope it goes great!

I like the gray suit better. I see why you like it. It has just enough flair -- feminine yet professional. It strikes just the right note. I think the jacket on the black suit overwhelms your figure. Not only are the sleeves too long, but I think the jacket is too long too.

I think the boots fit you just fine judging by the pictures. Good luck on your interview!

I'm back with what I hope to be the last installment in my boot drama. Need the YLF yes/no about these boots (they are La Canadiennes). Are they the right height? Do they look too tight?

Also, I'm modeling 2 interview suits. I have an all-day interview for a faculty position this week, including a 1-hour presentation. (At a university...I'm going to be a professor!! Maybe!). Which one looks better? I don't have time to have the sleeves hemmed. I'm leaning toward the skirt suit as it's been my lucky suit so far. Also, the complicating factor is that I'll have to wear flats. My ankle is still sprained pretty badly and I can't tolerate any heel for more than 5 minutes. I would wear opaque black tights with the skirt suit.

FYI, I'm in a social science field. I would not wear suits on a regular basis to work.
