When they were old enough to reach the bottom of the drum, I taught them to do their own laundry and of course they'd do their own laundry right at bedtime. They told me that they found the sound of the washer/dryer soothing. LOL. I don't think so.</p> <p>In this place, the building is built like a rock, with thick walls. And we did swap out the hollow doors with solid core, which helps too. When laundry is running we can't hear it as long as our bedroom door is closed. Though mostly I try to avoid running laundry after bedtime. My routine is to toss in a load in the morning, flip it to the dryer at least before dinner (often earlier since I WFH), fold and put away at bedtime.&nbsp;</p> <p>Also where it had been previously was just awful! It was in a space so small and the unit had to be turned sideways. You had to do this shimmy thing to get in there and I dreaded it so much. The floor was also crooked, so I kept getting hit in the head with the dryer door. Some of it was brought in for the photoshoot. We own the art above the sofa, above the fireplace, and above the dining room console (that painting was done by a very talented friend of mine). So we still have a bunch of blank walls waiting for us to collect more art over the years.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>FashionIntern </b>- YES, the place is a dream to clean! We specifically asked the designers to pick materials and surfaces that are easy to clean. And we designed in a lot of storage everywhere, so everything has a place and it's easy to put everything back. That said I've been lazy lately and really need to vacuum... but we are "company ready" as long as you visit at night when you can't see the dust. :-)</p> <p>More pics of the kitchen for you attached... pic 1 was also staged for the designer's portfolio shoot. Pic 2 hopefully gives you an idea of how it flows into the living room. That beam could not be removed as it holds up the condo, so we incorporated it into the island. In pic 2, to the left of the fridge, there's a door that leads to the pantry, partly shown in pic 3.&nbsp;</p> <p>We moved the kitchen. It used to be where the dining room is, but in a smaller footprint, a U shape. The half wall there was a full wall that contained the fridge. The kitchen was dark and gloomy and had no view and the cabinets were seriously undersized.&nbsp; So we moved it. Now we get to watch the sunset as we cook dinner. I really like the kitchen layout -- very efficient. </p> <p>That said it helps that we have a walk-in pantry (pic 3) that wraps around the back of the kitchen, where all the food lives, as well as our toaster oven and coffee maker. That space used to be the laundry but we moved that upstairs in the hallway between the bedrooms.&nbsp;</p> <p>Bonus pic 4: the balcony! I get the city view and hubby gets the sunset view.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Diana </b>- thank you and that was our goal, to mix warm and cool neutrals. Our last home was a riot of colors and very traditional so we wanted to go in the opposite direction with this one. Also, the place gets a lot of sunlight all day long and it was previously painted yellow with yellow hardwood: looked and felt like it was on fire, especially at midday and sunset. The grey tones that down a lot. (I saw so many modern renovated homes when we were looking for houses that were sleek and modern but so cold and soulless, unlike yours.).
