I looked through my previous photos, specially when I had more weight, I think overall I’m going to go with “Romantic,” though I don’t fully connect with it. There are some frilly, overly intricate elements that feel overdone to me when it comes to styling advice; I think I already intuitively have been dressing “romantically” from what I can tell so I will just follow my intuition, add and experiments with elements I’m curious about, here and there.

I don’t agree that yang = long and narrow bones. There is a little narrowness and sharpness to my bones tbh, despite my figure overall being short and voluptuous therefore “wide.” I think yang come come through in other physical features as well as personality features, which the Kinbe system seems to leave out from the little that I have seen; which is fine, the creator can decide themselves how to define certain terms as such, that is fair. I just feel like it falls a little short. Elizabeth Taylor for instance has an obvious yang undercurrent to her energy wise I mean so “yang” broadly speaking, not just within Kibbe. Yet she is typed as romantic which I guess aligns better with the category if you were to pick one but something feels left out.

Anyways, I think I’m pretty set on my type and will use the Kibbe guidelines for it somewhat loosely since I am not drawn to everything that I see, given the recommendations for it.

I don’t think “Romantic” IS me, which is why I’m a little disenchanted with the system. I also think each style does have a personality essence that seems to flow well with their overall body shape and face as well, though of course this is not a personality typing system. I will use it somewhat loosely, as I have always been more on the stubborn side anyway, I tend to follow what I want to do and use my best intuition to see whether it fits me.

Thanks for all your help.

Here’s a photo of me just to wrap things up I guess, and just so you guys know what I look like :)

You have a lovely figure. I would see you as a romantic or classic in Kibbe. Maybe the soft classic? I am not an expert at all but I found reading about the types easier than the quiz. I also am not terribly prescriptive about it -I broadly follow natural/ flambuoyant natural guidelines.

Hmm I do like some classic style but only the more “done up” ones if you will, those red dresses, like the ones you would wear when going out. The rest of classic feels quite bland to me. Plus I’m sure my face by itself, as well as body would disqualify me from classic lol. It’s very full, flush, “romantic” with some angularity and high contrast added to it because of think, dark, arched eyebrows and my hair color is black as well. Honestly, R felt like it was missing something. I’m beginning to settle more on TR. maybe I am the type...maybe I’m not, not sure yet. I think looking at me people might be able to spot the TR. I have just always felt like there was partly something wrong with me like I wasn’t feminine enough but with a little masculinity. I really don’t think I’m completely yin; that seems to miss the mark. There is a yang “strong-willed” dark, rich, slightly more direct than yin, undercurrent in me. Though face and body wise, including basic essence as well, there’s plenty of yin as well.

I will upload a photo of my face eventually lol

One thing about the TR descriptions is that they do show TRs as having some of that narrow bone structure of Dramatics. I...feel like I am somewhat more "lush" and full etc but there is an obvious angularity to my figure. But I do have the romantic "wide" bones instead of super petite like TRs. But vibe wise...I don't know, TR feels more and more possible. Initially I actually thought I might be TR, but started second guessing myself...but I mean, you could have a yang undercurrent that can manifest in several ways. What I am pretty certain is that I am not "pure yin" which is why Romantic feels a little off. I am also somewhat put off by the idea of wearing overly big bows and ruffles. I like pretty details...but being overwhelmed by that intricate, delicate ornateness feels like it's missing something. Like it doesn't feel like it's "me."

I am not a classic, I am pretty sure. My features are pretty extreme, including face and body which seems quite Romantic. Classics seem like a very elegant and beautiful blending together of the extremes. I would say I am more "unblended"; but that may also be partly because I have been uncomfortable with my yang energy.

Gamines seem almost "pixie-like" short, cute; and though people could probably see cuteness and shortness in me, I think there is a rich subtly dark and "sexual" (not literal, but sort of that romantic feminine vibe combined with more darkness if that makes sense) vibe that gamine doesn't fully address either. That's not to say that gamines aren't sensual, but this seems to be a strong enough undercurrent in me that I don't connect with gamines fully. In fact, I just can never ever see myself wearing the gamine outfits haha, it feels a little much on me.

Naturals are very lean, muscular looking, they remind me of mesomorphs. I may not be a Natural.

I am not a Dramatic, I don't think lol; too short for one and the idea of wearing those outfits feels intimidating to me.

So...yeah.

I would say I probably have a decent influence of ingenue essence, which might complicate things somewhat.

The mix of c and d/e answers says romantic + classic to me. TR is romantic + dramatic, so lots of As + D/E without anything in between. I like the Truth is Beauty site more than straight Kibbe, it seems more complete to me.

*bump*
I’m still very confused. I thought romantic might fit me better but I keep going back to TR vs. R. I really am not sure which type I am at this point.

I’m just not small and dainty like TRs in fact I feel quite “wide” which seems R but I do have somewhat “broad” and slightly angular bone structure.

I also have quite bushy, bold eyebrows, which I get done once in a while, despite my overall yin facial features. My face also feels “big and wide and round” but I think it lends to the more ingenue look. I don’t have overly big eyes but they can look a little big, I can seem to have the ingenue innocent wide eyes look, and they are also almond shaped and a little round. Overall I feel like I have “big bones,” which I thought could still be R but tbh I know I have a decent enough yang undercurrent that I feel like R doesn’t do it justice.

But I don’t feel quite so bold and flamboyant as TRs. In fact I’m not flamboyant at all. There is a bit of “boldness” or “spiciness” I suppose, if you could call it that, despite the fact that I have overall more of a soft, sweet vibe of the romantic. I don’t like going for overly flamboyant or bold looks though.

But I am not drawn to the outfits for gamines; they look very fun and cute but I just can't see myself personally wearing them...

My wardrobe I think leans towards romantic styles clothing, flower patterns, pretty dresses, etc. Overall I like lush and rich but understated. I was also drawn to some classic outfits as well, specially the elegant vintage ones. I don't ever wear make-up lol, and if I decide to, I don't like overdoing it, in that sense I am having a hard time relating to theatrical romantic. My favorite lip color would be deep red...in fact I have several red lipsticks because I was trying to find "the one" that I would like best lol. I love love love Elizabeth Taylor's look, it's gorgeous. Generally speaking I am drawn to vintage or bohemian styles. A little bit of the classic as well.

I would appreciate help on color analysis as well.

Reading up more on this...I think I may be Romantic.

You look great. Perhaps your eye and wardrobe need some time to adjust to your weight loss. Well-fitting clothes in the style(s) you like, whether tailored or fluid, will always flatter. The forum can help with this!

You have a lovely hourglass figure. You can follow body type dressing guidelines, or defy them. Whichever tickles your fancy.

hello, I have been trying to get more fit lately, as well as attempting to find out the best clothing style for me. Though I have always used my intuition when it comes to styling myself, I have begun to feel a little confused in that despite the fact that I lost weight, I feel like I still look "the same." Perhaps it's the way fat just naturally distributes itself throughout my body...could I be an hourglass body type? Or something else?

https://imgur.com/wg4XRvd

I tightened the dress to emphasize the body shape. Please excuse my bloated tummy and also the water spots on the mirror
When I see the picture, I feel like I look "chubby" and though I can certainly get more muscle mass and get leaner, my BMI is actually 19 according to my weight and height.

Any help would be appreciated :)
