I'm glad you've forgiven yourself as well, I was thinking the same as what Rae said (though she said it much prettier than I could have!). Good job on the closet clean-out (amazing how much stuff we can fit in our closets, no?), and enjoy the lovely day out! Looking forward to seeing your WIW post

I'm so glad you are feeling better on both fronts! You're absolutely right that the "gossip" incident is not worth any more thought. IMO, since this is a work-type environment, with things at stake, you didn't even overstep any bounds to check out the claims made against the woman you work with -- you have every right to know what kind of person you work with! There's no reason to waste energy trying to change X's mind, however. Some people won't admit they were wrong no matter what... she'd just keep turning it back on you.

Congratulations on the closet cleaning ! Isn't it cleansing on a deep level ?

I just went back and read your other post, which I had missed originally. I agree 1,000 per cent with Taylor that it is so good you forgave yourself. Unfortunately this stuff happens. I have learned that whenever we get involved in situations like this, we should be ready to lose the money. Keeping it is the upside. It is really hard to deal with when a "friend" has so little respect for you that they would do this. She sounds like a bit of a gossipmonger.

For you own conscience, send her a note, not an email and say that you were simply concerned about what was going on and you wanted to look into it. Then just say that you are sorry for how things turned out. If she ever sends you an email like that again just ignore. Only answer the positive ones. She will get the message after a while.

Finally, she was soooo hard on you NOT because of what you did, but because of the fact she needs a reason to make you look bad in order to take the heat off herself for screwing you. Now she can say that the two of you aren't friends because you are untrustworthy. Trust me on this one. If someone at the dogshow brings it up, just say it was an unfortunate misunderstanding. Personally, I don't see this as gossiping. It is very disingenuous to put something in your head about someone you work with closely and then tie you hands so that you can't look into it. Then what was the purpose of telling you ? At least X feels justly smug for having a reason to be mad.

That was alot of help, huh ?

First the on topic:

I made a huge closet purge last night/this morning. Northwest Pacific Center came by and picked up two large, contractor size trash bags full of clothing. I also have a "to be altered" pile. Anything that can't be saved by alteration shall go. What a relief! I came out of the bedroom several times to ask my DH, "Is this great or just okay?"

Just okay and away it goes!

Off topic:

My little tempest in a teapot from last week. I decided to forgive myself for the faux pas. In the scheme of things what I did was not a big deal and certainly not deserving of the treatment I received. Did I mess up? Yes, I did. Was it awful? No. It was a slip.

I have decided not to contact X. There's no point. I think anyone hearing the specifics would roll their eyes. DH did! X got caught bad mouthing someone and was ticked off so I took the heat. Oh well.

It's a gorgeous day so I have a WIW photo to take and errands to run! BBL!
