Sorry to hear that Una! I think that's one of the hardest things about online shopping. I get so excited about the things I find online that I feel rather crushed when they don't work out.

Aw, you all are so sweet! The jacket is already packed up and ready to go. I have a couple of leather jackets that I love dearly, so it's not a tragedy. In addition to not looking good, it was an awkward fit on me and I know I'd never reach for it. One of my new tests is whether I want to wear the item THIS minute, and that wasn't happening.

On to better things! And hugs to my fellow serial returners.

Let's see the jacket! Maybe your shoulders aren't as linebacker as you think.

Sometimes I get so hung up on one idea that it's hard to see what's really there. For example, I had noticed over the years that shoulder pads tend to look bad on me (I have "linebacker issues", too) and I thought it was because my shoulders were broad. So I thought all structured jackets would just not work for me. But not too long ago, I actually measured them, to help decide what size to order in a blouse. It turns out they aren't broad. They are the expected width. I've come to see that they are simply very square, which is different. (Shoulder pads still look bad, but now I know that if I remove them, the jacket will look great).

Anyway my point is, you are expecting to look like a linebacker, but maybe the jacket it just a couple of tweaks away from perfection. Does it have enough length to balance your top half?

ETA there's nothing wrong with being picky! It leads to owning lots of great items.

Feeling your pain with online orders that don't work out, Una.
I've had to return a ridiculous amount of stuff lately. I guess that's what happens when you try something new and different: some things are not going to work.

I'm feeling bummed over the orange Bailey 44 dress that just arrived- I have the Cha Cha version in black and love it, but the lighter orange color just shows every flaw in my body and looks awful :-(

Are you sure it doesn't work? Are you sure you don't want opinions from YLF on the "linebacker" issue? Maybe you're exaggerating a feature that others don't see in the same way. ETA: "She said hopefully..."

Una, my husband totally thinks I'm nuts about the number of packages I receive and then return. I just ordered 5 pair of shoes, and I will probably return all but one. It is so much better to be picky and get as close to perfection as you can rather than settle and end up purging it later. I'm still learning that thanks to YLF :)

I returned a LOT of stuff to Nordstrom, and they still sent me a Nordstrom Note recently. I guess it will catch up with the next statement.

I know! I just got a pair of plaid pants from yoox.com that I was really looking forward to. But, they are an awkward length, there was already pilling on one thigh, and they smelled strongly of the previous purchaser's perfume :(. Blech. Back they go!

Oh, that's too bad! Leather jackets are tough, no joke! I've given up on them for now, though I will be in Chicago in the fall with a giant All Saints store in the vicinity, so maybe I'll have some luck there? I am not holding my breath, but I feel like at least if I can try a bunch on and see what I like and what sucks, I can get a sense of what works for my IT self.

ETA: I can't tell you the number of things I've ordered online and returned over these past few months!! Many, many, many things! Mostly it's because I've gotten very picky.

ETAx2: You are certainly not busty!! Something about leather jackets can really emphasize the bust, I think. They are sometimes cut too snug through the bust, with no seaming (or inadequate seaming) and the material is so thick that it just molds around the bust....at least that's how they sometimes look on me! It's not your bust, it's the jacket!
