Brianna, a pair of jeans sans the patch pockets is going to be a whole lot more flattering. Hair dying jeans is good :-)

Like your ideas- let’s see the outfits!

(You’ll need to convince me on coloured tights. This is a hard look to get right. Too costume-like. But I always have an open mind).

Yes, please do call me Brianna! I would have signed up with that as my forum name if I'd realized most people here used their first names.

Thanks, Angie, for the advice. Yes, the jeans have patch pockets. Are those bad? They're my camping/house-cleaning/that-time-of-the-month jeans and mostly do not go out in public. Maybe they need to be demoted to hair-dyeing jeans, though.

I was thinking of wearing the black dress with one or two of a coloured or grey cardi, a coloured scarf, a coloured belt, a chunky coloured necklace, or coloured tights. I have a pretty good thrifted collection of belts and scarves. I'm also going to try layering a thin colored turtleneck underneath. I don't have chestnut boots but I do have dark brown Fryes. I was thinking of trying those with some grey diamond tights. Could that work? These are the Fryes:
http://s380.photobucket.com/al.....Medium.jpg
http://s380.photobucket.com/al.....Medium.jpg
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/41300058/c/325.html

If I wear coloured tights, I wear black boots so just a bit of the colour shows.

I would really love to get some flat cognac boots eventually.

The dress is lightweight enough for spring/summer too, in which case it'd be coloured or metallic flats, a belt, and a denim jacket.

May I call you Briana, too? It’s such a pretty name. Thanks for posting pics.

The black dress looks great and I love it belted with the grey boyfriend (sashed, or with a pukka belt for extra polish). Well done! How will you finish this outfit off? It’s very black. Chestnut boots? Scarf?

The coral cardi is a super colour and it’s okay sashed, but I’d prefer to see a skinny belt. The red thrifted cardi is great too. A nice set of cardigans!

The Jones wrap looks okay belted and that’s my preference for outside. But it’s fine to wear loose at home as a lounging garment. But know that it’s not terribly flattering. You are hiding your cute little shape.

I have a quezzie about the jeans. Are those patch pockets on the hips?

Thanks ladies! I think I'll return the grey cardi or else exchange it for a black or cream one. I'll keep the dress, the pink cardi (which looks red in the photos) and the red AK cardi. Sounds like the blankie cozy should stay home, which is what I suspected Never fear, it gets worn every day at home because I work from home and I tend to get cold easily. I just throw it on over whatever else I'm wearing. I figure it beats a ratty old hoodie, at least.

I really like the dress & the cardis. They show off your figure fabulously, and the black looks great on you. I agree that the wrap sweater has lots of fabric, but for hanging out at home I think it's totally do-able.

I think the red AK cardie looks great on you. I also really like the wrap top; the way you have it belted in that first pic looks very stylish to me. Even better if you can make it more comfy and casual at home!!!

I love your new Gap dress and your new sweaters, and I like the way you have belted the dress with the wide black belt.
All the pictures looked good to me. The wrap sweater looks very comfy but ofcourse since it is so comfy like a blankie, it kinda looks like one. However there is a place for a piece like that even if it is while working at home being nice and cozy. I like how you can wear it in so many ways and I think the picture with it wrapped up towards the side is very interesting. I hope you keep it and wear it out of the house. I really do like it on you. It may not show off your figure but it does draw attention to your beautiful smile.
I also like the red Ann Klein sweater alot. I love that is 3/4 length sleeves and I think it fits you well.
In the last picture you look ultra casual, but again, there is a time and place for that.

Hi Briana, Do you have relatives in North Central Mass by any chance?

Anyway...I like the Gap dress--but it needs a more colorful cardi than the grey. Could you try the dress with the 3/4 sleeve coral cardi? I prefer the dress belted, esp. if you don't wear a cardi with it.

I don't personally care for the wrap sweater. It's just too big--I know that's the point--but it looks too much like a sack. If it's warm and comfy, then by all means, keep it for around the house.

The red cardi is cute--I think it's a keeper. It would look nice with some dark wash jeans, cream denim, or black trousers.

I really like the 3/4 sleeve cardi--it's a great color. I'd like to see it buttoned just under the bust (a la Shiny). I think it's a great skirt length sweater.

As far as the last photo goes--it is very casual, but sometimes our lives require a casual outfit. Sometimes "smart-casual" is too dressy.

I'm not the best person for fit questions - you will get great advice from the other women here - but I just wanted to say I really like the way the dresses and cardi's look. You have a great figure, and that style really shows off your waist. And you also wear color very well!

The huge wrap sweaters are not my favorites only because they totally hide your body, but I certainly understand the comfort issue.

To me the last outfit is a bit too sporty and casual - I think you'd look great in a slightly more "smart casual" look. You look very sophisticated in black!

First off, sorry for all the posts lately! My husband and I are both in the middle of major life transitions, which means major wardrobe transitions, which means all things style are on my mind in a major way right now.

I picked up 3 new items at the GAP yesterday and could use some feedback. CRS appreciated if you're comfortable.

My camera is away getting repaired right now so I'm stuck with ppor lighting and a webcam--hence the terrible photo quality.

Here's the link to the album: http://s380.photobucket.com/al.....%204%2008/

First off, a black dress that the GAP website describes as a "T-Shirt Sash Dress." It's a very light modal/wool blend with a drop-waist sash. I'd probably mostly wear it belted at the natural waist. It's this one: http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=581232

I've showed it on its own, and with a belt at the natural waist.

Next, two cardis with a ribbon belt that are the same but in different colours. They are super super comfy but I'm not 100% sure about the fit.

I'm wearing the grey one buttoned up and belted with the new dress, and the pink one open, buttoned, and then belted with jeans.

Keep or return on all 3?

Next, a long grey Jones New York wrap sweater that I wear as a cozy at home when working. It's like a blankie It can be worn a lot of ways. Is it presentable for outside-the-house wear, or should I stick with wearing it in private? I posted a bunch of views.

Then, a red Anne Klein sweater that I thrifted. Not sure about the fit--too much material under the arms? I posted a bunch of different views. If it's no good I'll happily oust it. I think it cost $4 or something, so I'm not too invested in it.

Last, a really basic outfit of a black cashmere sweater, striped T, and jeans--is it too boring to wear outside the house? I'd normally use darker wash trouser jeans, not the ones shown in the photo.

A million thank-yous.
