I like both the shirts. My default 'hide the tum' look is to layer a button down or a blazer over a dark knit.

Thanks for the suggestions.I was trying to cover the post-baby tummy with the tunic.I am 5 ft,so it only makes me look wider and shorter.I will surely look for tops which define my waist.
Maya,do you think that the first top has the shape that you are talking about?
I am sorry for asking such questions but I just cant seem to figure out how to dress post-baby and look good.

Welcome Ruchi, and congrats on your first picture post. (And congrats on your baby, belatedly :-))

I know what you mean re: feeling self-conscious about a postpartum belly and not wanting to look pregnant - I've been there and still (7 years after having my daughter) pay special attention to avoiding the "pregnant look". I'm afraid that the tunic tops you wear in the third and fourth pictures don't help with this issue; the material is very clingy and doesn't flatter your mid section. Maya is right on with her advice to try more structured tunics (or dresses), in heavier fabrics and with some more styling details to streamline the look. This is another post that might be helpful: http://youlookfab.com/2008/05/.....ver-pants/

Hi there Ruchi! I'm also a mom to a 16 month old baby. It's great to help each othet through here. I'm not good at deciding body types so i won't even attempt. For the outfits, I like the top you wore with the jeans, but I think it would look better with a dark skirt because of where it stops and the colors. For the leggings& tunic, you can add a jean jacket and colorful scarf. Some bold jewelry could make it more cheerful, but I know it's not always practical with the baby. Maybe pulling the leggings up a little bit higher would be also good. Are you planning to wear them with ballet flats?

Hi Ruchi

You look like a rectangle to me, maybe with a slight apple tendency. I find it hard to tell if someone is an apple without seeing them from the side.

The jeans and the top look good to me. They seem to fit you well and work with your shape.

I am not so crazy about the first tunic. It isn't doing anything to enhance your shape and is very basic and tshirty. I would look for something with a sturdier or heavier fabric, with some shaping details and more visual interest. Have you seen Angie's post on leggings?

http://youlookfab.com/2007/08/.....-leggings/

The second tunic is too short, I'm afraid. I think you'll want to go about mid-thigh.

Hi,
I have been religiously following the blog for a couple of months and have now gathered the courage to upload my photos.I have been struck in the rut from the past few years after quitting my job and being a mom to a 10 month old baby. The posts have inspired me to make an attempt at looking good.
I am sorry for the blurry images and bed-hair.
Can you tell me if any of these outfits work or give me any tips that can make them look better.
1. Can you please help me find my body-type.Is it apple?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....424251703/
2. Jeans with top
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....425057188/
3.This is my attempt at wearing the leggings with a tunic.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....424261845/
4.Another pic with leggings a long top.
I feel that a belt might look good but am worried that I will look pregnant due to the tummy.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....424258375/

Thanks,
Ruchi
