I love the white top. I really thinks it fits you perfectly. Looks great with the pants.
I agree that the other top may have too many ruffles for you. The colour is really pretty though.
I agree with the others on the skirt - it would look nice shortened.

The alterations were $35. I think my tailor was giving me a deal because I'm ALWAYS in there. I figured it was worth doing. It'd be the BR skirt sale price probably but at the beginning of the season instead of the end. And it's more green to reuse! yeah!

Alecia, I'm late to chime in but I also really like the first sweater and pants and the white top. I really like the blue ruffle top also - great color. I don't think it's the ruffles that are overwhelming -- I think the way the sleeve are bunched and bit short isn't the best sleeve look for you. It draws the eyes away from the shape top and the line of the ruffles. I hope that the alterations won't cost too much on the wool skirt -- it would look fab at the shorter length.

San - Here's a picture with more skirt detail. http://i508.photobucket.com/al.....0_9059.jpg

But I do think it needs to be shortened. I feel so school-marmy in it at the current length. So I took it in to get shortened yesterday so I will post another picture when I get it back.

I like you new purchases a lot Alecia! I love BR sweater and pants, and I like both Limited tops! Maybe I am the odd one out but I do like the blue one a lot, I think it's really feminine and it fits you well. I would shorten the skirt to knee length.

I'm not so sure how popular this will be with Angie and other forum members, but I personally would try to work with the pleated wool skirt as is before hemming. I may be way out of touch with present reality since I'm getting up there in years, (let's call it up there in experience, chuckle) but if it was my skirt and I loved everything about it, I would look for a pair of boots or booties or cute shoes that would make it a great winter skirt at that length. I love the waistline feature in the BR skirt picture, and the belt they used with it.
I would love to see a more clear picture of the skirt if you have time. I understand that you are busy right now with getting ready for your trip. Is it a light weight wool, plain dark blue fabric?

I'd like to see how the white shirt looks with a bow, too; there was something about the loosened ties coming down past the bottom hem that didn't work for me.

I can't wait to see the pants once they're altered! And have a great time on your trip!

The sweater is to die for – very flattering, with a nice feminine detail. I can see you wearing it a lot. The pants are a great cut, so with a bit of tailoring should be perfect. Great outfit for you, Alecia.

White and Khaki. Another great outfit. The blouse and slacks are classic, and the red shoes are a perfect touch. You might consider wearing a darker top with those pants and a darker pant with that top, too.

Oh, wow, I'm in the minority about the blue top. I think it is gorgeous on you. I love the lacy detail, the color, and the deep V. Super flattering and fresh. You could play with lots of different colors of camis, too: red, yellow, green…

The long skirt looks like a good quality, classic piece. If you can have it shortened without breaking the bank, it would probably be worth it. Can easily envision it with a nice pump or a boot. I could also see a pop of color, like a red or royal blue, under the grey sweater. You look great in color, and as a blonde, you can wear some gorgeous shades. Would love to see you in jewel tones.

Kellygirl, you're totally right about the blue top accentuating the shoulders. That top is going back.

San, I'm definitely going to try the white shirt with a bow, too. It will be a different look. I like that flexibility about it. As for the shorts, I already had them. They're not perfect but I am going to hold out on summer bottoms for next year. These'll have to do for the moment.

Hi Alecia, nice new purchases! I especially love that white blouse on you. It's super and will go well with many different bottoms.
I'm not so crazy about the blue ruffled one. I do like ruffles, but I think there is too much going on in this top; it would be nicer with simpler sleeves I think. Since you sound unsure yourself, I vote for returning it.
Great pants as well. Regarding the skirt, it's hard to say if an alteration is worth it. Do you have a trusted tailor? If so, just ask him or her what they think. My tailor is very honest and straightforward about things like this; she tells me when something doesn't make sense or would be expensive.)

Hi Alecia. Lucky you going to a tropical locale. I love that I can enjoy the excitement through you because I'm sure not going anytime soon! We're in for a long grey winter here in the PNW.
But anyway back to the new purchases. I love them all with the exception of the blue top that seems to not be getting the best reviews here. It is not that it is so ruffly, it is the sort of Cruella De Ville necklne standing in the back that I don't care for.
I love the first grey sweater and black pants.
I like the white blouse alot but it seems to me that the tie could be worn in a more loose relaxed manner somehow. I don't know if you would consider a loose bow. Some people are not bow people. It is fine the way you have it if that is what you prefer.
I LOVE the BR skirt that you linked to. I hope you can have it shortened and wear a belt like the model is wearing. That is very cute and would look good with your great figure.
Are the walk shorts a new purchase? I personally like thigh skimming clamdiggers better. Dark blue denim clamdiggers with that white blouse would be gorgeous. If you already own the walk shorts or just prefer that look they are good to.
Have fun preparing for you tropical vacation.

Thanks for posting, you made some good purchases!

1. I love the black pants and sweater! Definitely keep those. I think a lace cami would look great under the sweater.

2. I like the white top as well. Keep that one too.

3. I really like the color of the ruffle top, but I tool feel that there may be too many ruffles. It is a great basic style, but I think it would look cleaner and more polished without all the ruffles.

4. If you can get the skirt shortened to the length of the BR skirt in the picture, I think it would look great and would a versatile look for fall.

I really like the first two outfits. I think the grey sweater and the Martins look terrific. I love the white tie top on you. I think it looks great with the pants and the shorts (love the red shoes.) The ties make it fun and the tapered hem softens the line across your hips.

The blue ruffle shirt is cute but it does seem to accentuate your shoulders--it looks like it's pulling a bit on the diagonal (raglan line) and the ruffles at the collar make your traps look healthy. I may be overly sensitive to this because of my own broad shoulder issues so please take this with a grain of salt.

I'm not much of a skirt person so I'll leave that to the others. Love the wrap sweater. It's gorgeous!

Well I've got some new stuff that I'd like help with. A couple fall things and couple things from the late summer sales. Next week I'm on vacation to a tropical locale so the summer stuff will come in handy.

Here's the link: http://s508.photobucket.com/al.....pping1012/
password: ylf2008

Ok, so the first picture is a new outfit from BR. Shiny, these are the Martin pants. They are black with the slightest pinstripe that doesn't come out in the pictures. I have a HUGE gap at the waist that would need to be taken in and they would need to be taken up. Also, a sweater from BR. I'm thinking I would wear with a different cami, a lacy one. I'm inclined to keep both.

Next up is a new white top from Limited. This one has small tone on tone polka dots. I have a picture with pants and shorts. I'm inclinde to keep this.

Next is a sheer blue striped top from the Limited. I'm not sure about this one. The ruffles may be overdone. I've included pant and short combos. Thoughts?

In the last photo is a pleated wool skirt skirt that is a hand me down. I'm contemplating getting it shortened to try and achieve a look like this: http://www.bananarepublic.com/.....d=OUT12876 The pleats are a little different, but I think it'd be close and the skirt fits me in the waist like a charm. Not sure how much the alterations would be. It may make it cheaper to get a new skirt. But if not, thoughts?
