So I did cut the tags yesterday and wore the outfit pretty much as you see in the photos -- skirted leggings, burgundy Vince sweater, and the new jacket, with the red-heeled Topshop booties. My fitbit tells me I walked almost five miles yesterday, and at least 3.5 of those were in those boots, which is pretty good for a first wearing, especially since I was on my feet all last night, from 7-11pm at art events. My feet were tired at evening's end, but that would be the case in pretty much any shoes. I got several compliments on the jacket, so it looks like public opinion matches your feedback. </p> <p>I will need to try the SE's around the house more. I love how they look, as an alternative to the high heeled Fossil booties (top right in my bootie collection photo), which I still like, but I am craving a little bit of an update. The SE's are a little bit stiff, and the fit is close -- not tight, but close -- across the forefoot, right where my foot is widest, even though my feet are somewhat narrow. I wonder if a little stretching at the cobbler would take care of that. I admit to having the same reservations on the roominess of the body of the coat, but when the seamstress came to pin me for length alteration, she advised not to do anything to the waist, assuring me that that was the way it was meant to fit. First up is the long abstract floral jacket. The more I look at this, the more I like it. It's not fitted to my waist, and I do think I could stand to have a little bit taken in in the middle of the back, but otherwise I'm liking it. The colors play well with my blues and burgundies. I can fit a light sweater under it, nothing bulky, but that's ok. I'm actually tempted to wear it out today/tonight!</p> <p>Pardon the ton of photos -- I'm showing full length shots with both pairs of booties, and I'm showing photos of the jacket open as well as buttoned for fit, even though I mostly wear jackets like this open. In a couple of these angles I'm trying to show the bit of bunching that happens in the roomy back fit. There is a center seam in the back, so an alteration is a definite possibility. </p> <p>Next, two pairs of black booties that struck my fancy. The Topshop ones with the red heels are really comfortable and a nice refined shape. The Sam Edelmans have a higher heel and are not quite as comfortable, but I feel them easing up as I'm wearing them around the house. I love the combo of the lug sole and the pointy toe. </p> <p>Full disclosure, I'm attaching a photo of all my other black booties. I feel like these are distinctly different from what I have, and I can envision these in outfits better than some of my old pairs. I don't want to be too redundant though. Any thoughts or feedback? </p>
