Thanks lyn67 ... great observations. That scarf is the only burgundy print item I own, and I wish I had not cut it in half lengthwise a few years ago when the bulk bothered me ... it's now too thin. :-)

Love the slate blueish grey things here---they really can up and lighten any darker neutral outfits! Burgundy prints with white and patent shoes are my other faves for the same matter.

Chris, good observation. I generally like dark colors year round but try to lighten up in spring as a change. I have a couple of pastel sweaters for cold spring. They were not worn last year so this year they are coming out the last half of February to get worn more. The outside looks nothing like Spring yet cold and snowy with grey skies.

Joy, good for you switching to lighter colors ... I am not feeling that at all right now but maybe later .... but I generally prefer darker colors year round.

Thanks suntiger! The burgundy does help "brighten up" all the grey and black ...

So far this month I have worn mostly black going out for mourning my BIL and wearing my very small sick capsule for Covid. It stands up to daytime naps and has pockets for tissues. Mid February I plan to steer wearing spring pastels in warm fabrics. I have a couple of pastel colored sweaters for this. I also collected some velvets to wear now into spring. It looks like mid winter out with lots of snow. My white snow boots get a workout. I wear white jeans a lot before they get too warm. l need a new white puffer to replace one I gave away.

Thanks Angie .... you are right, I think of scarves as "warm necessities" and tend to overlook the patterns I've chosen!!

Ket interesting comments about fleece vs wool. It's good to have choices I used to wear heavy wool sweaters over a thick cotton turtleneck but my skin has become more fussy over the years and that sort of sweater is now too itchy even over that same thick turtleneck. Life is too short to wear uncomfortable clothes!

Saw your comments about fleece being warmer than wool. I do agree to a point. The loft of the fabric traps more heat. Also, it's almost always polyester -- essentially, plastic. So it's going to be warmer because plastic reflects a lot of heat. Definitely easier with kitty claws too! Despite being careful, my cats still occasionally snag my hand knits. Also, I love the washability, especially with doing grubby, germy chicken chores! I do find fleece is harder to keep smelling fresh compared to wool. But it's much faster and easier to wash.

As a hand knitter, I do find wool can be just as warm as fleece, or warmer. But for many reasons, we don't either choose or know about the warmer wool choices. A lot of it is due to manufacturing choices. We've also been kind of conditioned to want very lightweight, non itchy wool sweaters. And those usually don't provide much warmth, tbh--not without thoughtful layering.

Thanks indigoprint! Fleece, in addition to being impervious to kitty claws, is long lasting, very warm (warmer than wool IMHO) , easy to launder, and typically not very expensive. But it is super sporty/casual which is not everyone's preference.

My kitty snags my sweaters too so thanks for the fleece tip. Have to check it out tonight for movie night!

The Minkoff Purse is one of my favorite purchase of last year - I've been giving some thought on additional dark brown footwear to get to wear with it since the suede booties are cold-weather only and slightly uncomfortable. Maybe loafers or sneakers for spring or even sandals for summer.

We're halfway through February, and I've been keeping an eye on what colors I'm wearing to see how they do/don't fit into my color palette from my color analysis in January. It's as I expected when I first looked at the palette. I didn't take any photos. The finds are all the items I've worn this month out of the house. Boots, coats, bags, and pants definitely on repeat; sweaters not so much. (At home is all about fleece tops because my adorable kitty gets on my lap with paws on my shoulders and immediately snags any sweater I might be wearing. Fleece does not snag). Not shown are the uniqlo heattech fleece underlayers I wear every day.

My deep-winter wardrobe colors, except for black, are generally darker versions of colors in my palette. Blue, grey, burgundy, and just a bit of brown and ivory/cream. I also wear a lot of black, which is not in my palette at all. There are lots of colors in the palette that I do not wear. I like the colors I wear and have no plans to change them. I like wearing dark colors and do so year round, although I do wear more lighter ones in warmer months. We've got maybe 6 weeks to go of deep winter, with a few slightly less cold days here and there, and I expect to keep wearing this same stuff or similar. (I am doing a warm weather vaca in early March and will be wearing some lighter colors). As usual I've got NO interest in "style" this time of year when my persona/moniker is "bundled up". I I also have zero desire to wear brighter or lighter colors. Maybe in a few more weeks ... .

And based on today's Outfit Formula: Lots of quiet columns, dark neutrals

Comments welcome as always
