Thanks Kelly, trying hard......

Mirjana - thank you!

Suntiger - I think you are an hourglass too and I find these shapes work the most easily with my body.

Jenni - I was joking but there is a grain of truth in there....

Love 1 especially. That top is such a great piece--neutral with and edge. You really wear wide crops so well. You look chic always!

Oh Sally you are amusing! I am sure that no-one will think bedraggled is your style moniker!
But I know what you mean. I can be very sad having to ditch beloved pieces that are getting too old-looking or worn for me

Thanks Rachy - I don't have vertical stripes but am open to them. I like blouses or shirts that are not the traditional button down (pussy bow, popover) The sandals are a really practical piece that I have worn a lot.

Bijou - Ministry of Style is totally you! I had a quick look last night and did like some of their pieces a lot. Yes I think new flares (maybe not denim) and I would love a wool skirt or culottes. I think outfit 1 here is the best silhouette for me (balanced and flowing but with some structure, and that nice asymmetric line is really flattering across my middle).

Lyn - thank you! Yes replacing things is inevitable and as you say, a chance to refresh and change style. I love florals but at the moment but I am a bit over them right now and considering different patterns right now.

Thanks Jenn - it really was a great find. Perfect for my current wardrobe - and yes - it is a statement or is it an essential?

Thank you Minaminu - I can be a bit too slow to retire pieces and have to remind myself that bedraggled is not my Style Moniker.

KILLER new as-symmetrical blouse and outfits, Sal! LOVE that it's blue.

The items that are done had a good style life, and it's onto something new! Glad you want to replace the essential and statement blouse though. Good plan.

That new blouse is AMAZING. It's rare to a find a piece that can dress up and down like that, but it also really interesting and beyond just an essential.

I like how practical you are about your ins and outs, but especially the outs. Even beloved clothing pieces go eventually and if you've worn them a lot, all the better.

I am kind of a bad shopper, so I'll refrain from offering specific suggestions, but I hope you leave room for something a little fun and statement-y this winter, in addition to the practical pieces.

@Brooklyn, you are right - I love Ministry of Style and have been wearing my maxi skirt and shirts all summer long!

Sal I LOVE you in 70's styling and earth tones. Outfit #1 is just beautiful on you. I can see you rocking a winter version of this with long boots and woollen culottes and and asymmetric sweater. Also, like Janet flared pants are wonderful on you. Would corduroy flares tempt you as I think you would seriously rock them?

I totally love the LK Bennett striped shirt - a stunning piece!

Thanks Brooklyn, I will take a look at those suggestions. It will be April suddenly when a couple of gaps will appear. I actually ordered a white dress from Country Road that I was so excited about - but it was not at all right and I returned it. The local branch here must be a C Grade store because the online selection is much much better!

Thanks Shevia - I love a late season newbie to give those last three or four weeks of a season a bit of a boost...

Suz - it will indeed be a workhorse. These finds show what am thinking of - in terms of dressiness level and vibe.

Looking fab Sally. You are an inspiration as always.

I haven’t really started thinking about A/W yet because it probably won’t cool down here for a while. But I usually get my cotton layering tops from Country Road (your voucher probably works there too).

Can you shop Reiss? It’s available at David Jones (do they deliver to NZ?) and online (not sure about return arrangements however). I like a lot of their blouses and they have lots on special ATM. Also Ministry of Style has lovely blouses, but I think their look is more Bijou than you. Might be worth a look though.

Thanks Carla - that Trenery shirt might be perfect and I have a store credit for $35 which makes it very affordable.

I love the second Gorman blouse but it's not quite what I have in mind for the trousers I own which are more business attire.

I tried on a navy linen shirt a couple of weeks ago before finding this assymetrical top - and it reminded me again why shirts are so hard on me.

Asymmetrical lines are very flattering aren't they. And a top that sits at this length but doesn't need to be tucked is so useful.

That is a great asymmetrical top, and I love when your wide leg crops show up in an outfit. For the dressy blouse, I’d suggest looking for a print that pulls from a couple or more of your favourite wardrobe items so that it fits in right away. A large organic design with blush, mustard, rust, navy, cream.

February was a very busy month with lots of wardrobe ins and outs for me.

Outs!

Due to wear I exited my red silk blouse (2010), my blue floral dress (2016 thrifted) my pewter slides (2017) and my black cotton sweater (2019). The first three I was really sad to see moved on but they were DONE. I also exited the floral blouse (2019) - I no longer feel great in it. And somehow I have lost the navy tee - I think I left it at the beach but it may turn up....(I hope so).

As Jenn said in her post it is sad when a favourite wears out. I had already replaced the slides with white birks. The dress - I think the sage green one has taken the role but it is very different. But that's okay - I have other options.

I am looking for a dressy blouse and a long sleeve black cotton top to replace the red silk and the black cotton. Both definite gaps that I will miss as we move to April.

Ins!

Well mostly gear! The two tops and the bike pants were gaps due to wear in my gear capsule, the leggings were a pure WANT. But they are getting worn.

I found this navy blue blouse from NZ ethical label Recreate - made in Cambodia. I have worn it three times to date and love it. You can see in the photos two ways I have worn the blouse, but it works with white jeans and skirts too.

All the February additions have been worn, most three plus times, the bike shorts only once though.

Plan for March

March and April are usually glorious here - late Indian Summer and early autumn - clear days, cool nights. I am sitting here today in shorts and a tee, but at some stage the days won't feel right for high summer clothes and I will bring in boots again and try to remember how to tie a scarf.

I have enjoyed my wardrobe this summer - there have been a couple of things that haven't been worn at all (lack of occasion mostly) but in general I have found style and fashion simple (despite life actually being rather complicated in February on the work front!)

I am generally open to ideas at the moment for shopping. Top of my list is a black long sleeve top, a work blouse that works with both black and white trousers, and a puffer jacket, I will see what takes my fancy. Any ideas of things that you think might suit me?

Thanks for looking.
