A tan is not protective. Here in NZ and Australia we have the highest levels of skin cancer in the world. It is difficult not to burn even when we try to cover up and use sunscreen, because we have a hole in our ozone layer. I notice plenty of fake tan ads in fashion magazines. We are all pretty aware of it but they are also outdoor cultures. So it’s difficult.
