From what I can see Traci, this size looks great with shortened sleeves. It's a bit trapeze-y at the back, which I rather liked. My Burberry peacoat does the same thing.

Yes, I was thinking the sleeves will need to go under the knife if I decide to keep.

This size is better but sleeves are still a little long. ( easy alteration) . It would depend on your lifestyle and wardrobe, but I'd consider this casual. I bought this to wear with sweaters and pants, khakis, or jeans. I have a dressier wool coat in red and one in black to wear over a suit or blazer combo. But it looks good!

The size on this one looks better to me if you can layer what you would usually layer underneath it. Beautiful coat.

Because of its shorter length I consider a peacoat semi-casual. Obviously it is wool and a classic style so it is dressier than a parka. But it can't be used easily as a coat with dresses, although you might wear with a pencil skirt, I guess.

I use mine as a more casual alternative to my longer wool coats. It's great if you are getting into and out of cars a lot. (I don't, but it's an advantage).

This is the French Connection Peacoat in a 10. I think it fits nicely. My daughter says she doesn't like the shape it makes me.

Once I am decided on fit, this one is still on the chopping block while I consider need. I'm trying to decide if this can replace my dressier wool coat that I only pull out when my puffer seems too sporty. I prefer the lightness of a puffer for running around, so this would need to fill in for the dressier coat or it just don't get worn often.

Is a Peacoat casual by nature?
