I thought this was the overall best Academy Awards red carpet ever. So many beautiful gowns.  Lady Gaga's singing blew me away --  and Julie Andrews was a delight and looked amazing. I also loved Marion Cotillard's gown.  She often wears Dior and I always look forward to seeing what she will wear because it is without fail simple, elegant, understated and perfectly suited to her. I wish I could wear an unadorned, long-sleeved black gown like Julie Andrews and look as stunning as she did.  Talk about confidence.  Oh well, maybe when I'm 75 I will have enough gravitas to carry that off.  One can only hope. On another note, I too was blown away by Lady Gaga's performance.  I knew she could sing but man, that was a whole other type of performance for her.  She absolutely nailed it.  I loved seeing the room full of jaded theatre folk give her a standing ovation.  I wish I could have heard what Julie Andrews said to her afterwards because I could tell Julie Andrews thought she did well too. ETA:  Rosamund Pike.  I can't believe I forgot her.  My goodness.  Not only did she look stunning, she looked like that after having a baby 3 months ago.  When I was 3 months postpartum the best I could do was a jersey skirt with stretchy waistband.  Hers would be the dress I would wear if I were attending the Oscars and had the budget to do it. Naomi Watts, to me, was stunning. Her dress had more shine and complexity than I usually am drawn to, but something about the simple lines of the dress pulled it all together for me. Plus that gorgeous neckline. I just loved it. Sienna Miller has such a gift for finding dresses that are both demure and sophisticated -- I love the contrast between the top and bottom, and I love that it is a solid color but interesting in a subtle, almost secret way. So funny it's your pick and mine as the dress to wear! Emma Stone - fun and funky with personality.  An unusual colour but perfect on her. Jennifer Hudson - love that butter yellow, and the shape is so flattering.  Wonderful earrings - the whole look is simple. Sienna Miller - a different look for her, but a gorgeous shape. I really loved the detailing, and I thought her hair do was great with the neckline. Several of the gowns were beautifully shaped I thought, creating a stunning silhouette. If I was to attend the Oscars (which I am not planning to) I would love to wear Sienna's gown.  I feel this one would work best on me of the four.
