Looks classy. A great find for $30. Of course, the lack of a zipper would be a problem for me as I'm a klutz and tend to drop/spill things easily and frequently!

Here is the Tote I found at TJ Maxx. It is a cheapy but I like that it is lightweight like Shiny and Julia's. The only drawback is that it does not zip on top. It was around $30

What do you all think?

Found a lightweight patent leather tote at TJMAXX for $40---it is very lightweight so I can fill it with my book, needlepoint, snack, wallet, umbrella, airline ticket.

I don't know if I can fit a lightweight rain jacket in it but probably everything else!

Thank you all for your help! I will post a pic soon.

It's plenty big! That’s the largest tote own. I bought it at Nordstrom a few years ago.

Angie

Is your tote in the picture large enough? To me it looks like a regular sized purse and not one that would hold a lot of stuff?

Maybe it is bigger than the picture shows?

Where did you find yours?

Today I went to TJMAXX and did not see any as cute as all of you posted above.

I will keep looking. Thank you!

Beautiful bag, Julia. I like to carry my black cracked patent doctor’s bag that you see in the Anne Fontaine post. It works with everything and looks great with Converse too.

I echo what Shiny said. I took this for my HK/China trip this Summer and felt fabulous all the time:

http://i282.photobucket.com/al.....bag001.jpg

I got it at TJ Maxx for around $30. I'm not sure what material it is made of but it feels soft and it's easy to clean. The brand is Sisely. I recommend you to get one in the color that will go with all your travel outfits.

I forgot to add that it has "secret" compartments - zippers that allow you to stuff things into the lining. We stuffed some extra emergency euros in there and only remembered them when we were at the airport -so had fun doing some last-minute duty-free shopping.

I would love to share the brand with you, but it's so cheaply made, the glued-on brand label fell out - I don't think it was there when I bought it. You can see where it was - glue marks. They had it in different colors too. Might check Marshall's.

This is the bag I took on my Paris trip - and have been using for "after the beach" days:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2.....680265664/

I got it for something like $10 at Marshall's. It's very very lightweight, made out of some synthetic material. It's not very well made or anything like that - but it turned out to be the perfect travel tote.

1) It was so lightweight, I could stuff it full and it still didn't feel all that heavy.

2) I often carried around in it the standard purse items, my camera, an umbrella, a rolled-up travel trench, a cardigan, a scarf, and sometimes even an airplane blanket (which we used for picnics along the Seine). Yet with all that stuff, it didn't look overstuffed.

For after-the-beach trips, I stuff it with a complete change of clothes.

3) Because it is synthetic and inexpensive, I had no qualms setting it down on nasty bathroom floors, metro seats, and on the ground in outdoor cafes. I figured I could just throw it away after the trip.

4) Because it is synthetic, it cleans easily. Despite it being cheaply made, it held up perfectly fine so I'm going to scrub it down with antiseptic and keep it for future trips.

No, it's not classic but it is a fun tote and the color worked well with everything I wore on the trip. This is the very first trip I ever accomplished with only ONE purse. And we were there for two weeks!

I also have a large black canvas tote that zips on top and fits all the stuff I listed but it is not a fashion statement. I got it at a travel store.

The good thing about it is that I do not feel bad stuffing in it under the seat on the airplane.

Should I trade it for a really stylish tote?

I have a medium butler bag but since it is structured inside I do not think it is large enough.

http://butlerbag.com/ProductDe.....38;SCID=37

When I travel internationally I take:

book
needlepoint
snacks
purse items
inflatable pillow
moleskin journal

I saw Angie's large tote blog and wondered if that is the size recommended for long trips and if anyone here has a favorite.

Classic, handy, travels well?

I am tall so I can handle a large one.
