Happy birthday, nuancedream!! I guess you're not on Angie's YLF birthday tracker yet - sorry the birthday wishes come late. Glad to hear you let yourself be pampered

I went to the Body Bar in West Seattle for my birthday yesterday and had a wonderful facial. Therese Henning is a terrific esthetician and licensed massage therapist. The Body Bar also offers 20% of any service between 1:00 -3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll try out Willows, which I've been curious about anyway. It sounds blissful. Can't wait

I have been to the Salish as well - the ambience is nice but I found the service and actual treatments to be below par compared with Willows, Ummalina, and Pro Club.

I never spa'd much in Seattle, but we honeymooned at the Salish Lodge, which has a fantastic spa. Because I've never been to another spa, I can't compare. It may be a bit of a drive, but it is so pretty and peaceful up there.

I just went to the Vida Spa downtown. It's in the same complex as the Pan Pacific Hotel and Whole Foods. I liked that they had a sauna in the locker room, and a fire place in the waiting room
They also didn't do a hard sell on products which was nice.

I'm a total spa slut Ummalina's is one of my favorites - in fact, I have a gift cert waiting to be used there so maybe we can even make it a date but only if you want. I also like the spa at the Pro Sports Club but only with specific specialists there, some of it is hit and miss. I do not like Gene Juarez. And I love the spa at the Willows Lodge - I had a full body scrub and wrap and a facial there and LOVED it. I would go back there in a heartbeat - in fact, I'm teaching there the next 2 days and might be able to sneak in a visit now that I'm thinking about it. hmmmm....

Thanks Marianne and JuliJuli. I've heard of Banya 5 as well, but as a "baths" place as you say, JuliJuli (so it's more of a communal spa experience.) For this specific occasion, I'm looking for something more along the lines of Ummelina, where it's about individual pampering and maybe some beauty services too. I'll check out Habitude. And I didn't even know Nordstrom had a spa!

(FYI for those reading this thread and who are looking for more of a "bath"/communal spa experience - "Olympus Spa" with two locations in Tacoma and Lynnwood is a women-only Korean spa and it is absolutely amazing. I've spent many happy days there! People who like Olympus Spa also recommend Banya 5 and vice versa (I just haven't been to Banya 5 yet; it also isn't women-only all of the time just fyi)).

If anyone else has a recommendation in Seattle pleeze keep 'em coming

Antje - I haven't been, but I have heard that the Nordstrom Spa is amazing too. But yes, I've also heard that Ummelina and Habitude in Ballard are great places. I think Banya 5 is more of a 'baths' place but it is supposed to be super relaxing and fun. I'd like to try it out one day.

Antje, I am not much of a spa goer, but I heard great things from all sorts of people about Banya 5. I've been meaning to go myself, but haven't had a chance yet.
A friend of mine went to Ummelina recently and liked it a lot too.

Got a question for fellow Seattle gals: Can you recommend a wonderful spa?

I got a little windfall and decided to treat myself with a few hours at the spa, to overcome my fall blues and to relax after quite a bit of traveling recently. I haven't actually done this in years, and don't know where to go. A few years ago I had a wonderful experience at Ummelina. Is Ummelina still a magical place to go to? Or are there other spas you recommend? I want to get a massage and a facial for sure, and am open to some other treatment as well. Most of all I want to relax and feel pampered. Any suggestions??
