I recently bought some Chanel No. 5--I wore it a lot when I was much younger. The last time I had it memories of my single years almost overwhelmed me. This time it didn't happen and I wonder if Chanel has changed the formula. It doesn't seem to have that haunting note I associate with it.</p> <p>I also wear White Ginger, a single flower Hawaiian perfume. I bought 4 bottles last time I was there, giving my son something to wonder about when he came home for a visit. I stored them in the refrigerator. I'm almost out.</p> <p>We visited Grasse, France, in the fall, long after the harvest, to accommodate my allergy. You might give it a try. I like it, not too sweet (I don't favor sweet scents, either) but it is floral. Diorissimo is an old (created 1956) classic green scent from Christian Dior that I have been wearing for over 25 years, and adored. It was the only perfume I wore.</p> <p>Dior killed it.</p> <p>Not as in taking it off the market, but in reformulating it. Perfumers reformulate perfumes all the time, to reduce expenses (substituting other, cheaper ingredients) or because of changing government regulations, and Diorissimo was no different. It had undergone changes over the years. But in this last reformulation, Diorissimo smells nothing like the perfume that captivated me all those years ago. I am bereft.
