Your story reminds me of a recent experience which has caused me to rethink a couple of my own wardrobe items...</p> <p>There's a woman in a choir of which I'm a member; she is tall like me and very pretty, and I always check out what she's wearing. Last winter, I thrifted a wool coat and felt really good every time I wore it until the day this woman came in wearing a very similar coat, and I abruptly realized the coat was very dated on her. I think I wore my formerly-loved coat once more after that and never again.</p> <p>It happened again this week--same woman-- but a pair of black pants which have been a huge essential for me looked dated on her. I of course love that my family thought I looked nice, but then again these days I am often in VERY casual stuff around the house with the baby so anything dressy warrants an OOOH!!!! <br />But maybe like Peri said too, perhaps I am just too critical.It certainly wasn't a terrible outfit, but it did not make me look the way I felt in it. Neither piece is something I would get rid of because they fit great and are not too dated I don't think, but together maybe the silhouette was off...<br />Why oh why can't we feel and look fab every day?!?! That way you can tell if it is the outfit or the photo. Maybe a small tweak will bring back the happiness factor. We were heading out the door soon after putting my 5 month old to sleep. I grabbed my long black straight cut trousers abd a wrap silk blouse I absolutely love. No dress because legs unshaven! I felt great and gots nice Ooh! From husband and older kids. When I got home later I saw a pic of us my mother in law took before we went out for dinner and I was horrified. I looked so old! Aack!!! Not tired-baby-face old, but old-outfit old! I thought wow, my trusty combo failed me, that's not good. So sad. Ever have this happen despite wearing something you thought was foolproof? </p>
