I like the cut of #1/2 and #5 the best - they are smooth, and streamlined, but if you're having a PMS day, they look like they can accomdate a little bit of water retention and still give a slim shape.

The mix of fabric in #1/2 is a little biker, and that's fun! But unless you're going for a Village People, Freddie Mercury, or fetish look (all of which are FUN in the right measure), maybe keep the tops and shoes a little softer and more feminine.

I really dislike #3/4. The cut makes them look dowdy to me, with the elastic waist and the looser fit. To me, leather looks its best when it molds to the body a little more.

6/7 are cute, but the waist looks kind of high and the inseam looks kind of short. Which means that if you wake up feeling any less than your absolute best, these shorts might make you feel self-conscious.

I typically wear a tone on tone belt over (my one) elastic waist skirt... i know this adds a piece to your minimal style but if low contrast it could dress up the waistband such that the elastic isnt looking frumpy.

Can you get a "leg opening" measurement Raisin? That might help you make up your mind wrt how your legs will look in them.
I don't think a tuck with the elastic waist (Zara shorts) would look frumpy at all - especially if your blouse is kind of billowy.

I agree Thistle, the only problem is the styles are so different. I think I would prefer more loose to more tight, and the AW and Zara are more loose, but also more expensive. I could get the cheap ones but not like them because they are short and or tight. The Zaras would be $100 all together....so they are not too bad, but I'm afraid the waistband is frumpy. I may end up getting none!

Before committing $175 to a new style, I would go with the $35 and make sure you love them! You can upgrade later if they become a workhorse for you.

I think 7 look cute on the model. Could be a good cheaper first try. Go girl. They are for the courageous (and/or the gorgeous).

Thanks ladies. I like the AW ones, but maybe not willing to go $175 yet. The Zara ones look more chic to me, but I do like to tuck my blouse in a lot, so would the elastic waistband make them more frumpy? I think a loose leg is probably more chic and less tart. The AW ones look loose on some models and tighter on others, and since my thighs are fairly muscular, I'm afraid they will look tight. I do like #5 too, that seems to be the style a lot of bloggers wear, and they are only $35, so easy to wet my feet with. Oh.....decisions....why are you so hard!? hehe

I like the chap like placement of the leather on the Wang design. I also think they would be cooler in warm weather. #5 gets my second vote

I much prefer the last pair followed by the second pair. To me the first pair look like they have a maternity panel inserted.

You ladies were such a great help in looking at my Pinterest board, I decided I need to branch out just a bit and try some of these looks that I'm loving. I'm still waiting on the faux leather leggings I ordered (slow US to Canada snail mail), but I think I want to jump in on the faux leather shorts as well. Which style do you think would suit me best?

Pic 1-2 : T by Alexander Wang leather and ponte shorts. Maybe the combo could be better for spring than all leather?

Pic 3-4 : Zara faux leather shorts. A roomier version

Pic 4 : eBay faux leather shorts

Pic 5-6 : eBay faux leather shorts

They are all on eBay and range from $35 to $175, the pics are in descending order of expensiveness.
