Rachylou I used to have those Saucony's too... And before that were the retro Reeboks... Oh how I miss those shoes! Haven't thought about them in a while, now I want to replace them!

But to the topic at hand, these are my current "fashion" sneakers. I could be wrong, but I think they go with (almost) everything!

I have so much trouble with the white soles on many of these new fashion sneakers. They look lovely out of the box, but then they get grungy so quickly. I have a pair of Puma Munsters, which I love. Every time I try to wash the sides of the soles with a toothbrush the suede isn't happy. How does everybody else deal with that? I've been wanting to get a pair of slip-ons, and the white sole thing is holding me back.

Mine are less like running shoes and more like dressy sneakers, not sure if that's what you're talking about. I wear a variation of this type of shoe several times a week. The ones I have (Josef SIebel Caspian) are super comfy and great for walking. I am looking to add a pair of slip ons this spring, if I can find some that fit and flatter my somewhat wide foot. I'm thinking in a metallic to be versatile.

My collection looks a lot like kkards. I don't really wear them in the winter, for obvious reasons but absolutely feel free to wear them with just about anything.I agree that switching from the true athletic ones (those intended for running and court sports) to the more fashion , and now classic styles (Stan Smiths , Adidas Gazelle etc) is the key to wearing them for leisure. I do have a couple of pair of Nike Free in funky camo black and white prints that although are intended for running, work well for casual wear too. It's my favourite category of foot ware , hands down, and is great for aging feet and knees while still looking current and fashionable!

My currents are:

slip-ons, mostly for the after-work dog walk and saturday mornings

the retro bullets by saucony, for wandering around Hipsterville

also in the closet:

old old new balance for the bakery

merrells for days involving more serious hikes

chucks for toning-down dressier outfits

i wear the nike's (in my 1st find) with cropped pants and rolled denim. i wore this on a 2 week trip to italy this fall, and felt both comfortable and fashionble. i think what makes these work for me is the narrow profile, understated colors and slim heel.
i wore the slip ons all spring, summer and into fall. these were my unexpected workhorse. i wore these with everything! shorts, cropped pants, rolled denim, long denim. these just worked!
i am retiring a pair of converse white lace up sneakers (after 2 years they have given there all). i'm thinking of replacing with white stan smiths.
the 4th find i have is a true athletic shoe, and while they are super comfortable, i still feel that they give a more athletic and less fashionable feel to most outfits i have tried them with.

I really love this pair. They're a bit unexpected and lots of fun to wear with the black and gray I tend to favor. Like you, I have lots of sports shoes but it's nice to have something a little dressier, yet still sporty, to wear out sometimes.

I've seen plenty by Nike. I have a pair of Puma that I really like. To me the biggest difference is the sole, the fashion ones are much more streamlined and generally the sole doesn't stick out past the body of the shoe (not sure if I explained that well). I think Angie did a blog post on this topic.
I've attached a picture of mine. I've removed the laces and want to try putting in black elastic to get rid of the hassle of laces that come undone.

how do you wear yo

ur fashion sneakers and what kind do you wear?

I have given up on slip on's, although I have a pair that may stay on my feet I may keep. They are not particularly the latest trend type, but if they don't fall off I may keep them.

I am looking at lace ups, and thee are a lot of choices. I have great athletic ones that I have to wear for my dog sports and to the gym. Fashion ones fill a wardrobe hole for when it is still to cold for sandals, or out colder nights even in summer. Need to swich out the athletic for fashion ones sometimes.
